My wife, who was in Dover on a visit, and had already felt unwell there, had the first attack of bilious fever here. We drove home late and found that our youngest child had suffered an attack of intermittent fever and as a result my wife had to go to bed. It was a very difficult week for me. But the Helper blessed the remedies which were applied so that my wife's fever yielded by Sunday evening, and she beclame better from then on. 6 - I was again attacked by an intermittant fever which occurred every day. Consequently I was prevented from conduction the funeral of a child in this neighborhood which was brought to me. 21 - I went to Sharon where I held the funeral of the widowed sisterl, Elizabeth Helwig, maiden name Meyer, who passed out of life in her 54th year from an inflamation of the stomach. She was born in Heidelberg, moved from there to Lititz where she partook of Holy Communion for the first time with the congregation, several years later to Bethlehem, where she was married to her now deceased husband, Gideon Helwig, and from there she came here to her son as a widow 2 years ago. 29 - I conducted the funeral of a neighbor woman, Phoebe Ward, in our God's Acres without preaaching. In the afternoon I rode to Sharon where I conducted the funeral of the child of a certain Swiss. September 1835 4 - I went to Sharon where I first conducted the funeral of our neighbor, Engler, and then the choir meeting, the lovefeast and Communion of the married choir which was celebrating its festival. During the Comunnion I got the fever and had to lie down for 3 hours in Engler's house, after which I permitted myself to drive back here, although still very weak. During the night our son Alexander, and on the following day our oldest daughter got the fever, so we were taken with it together. 11 - Was the funeral of the child James Albertus Miksck. Our girl, who was likewise attacked by the fever yesterday, departed from us today. 18 - I was unable to go to Sharon, in that I again had daily attacks of the fever. 23 - The wife of a neighbor, Adam Stockerl, was buried here today. I spoke very briefly, as I am still extremely weak from the fever.
