Allen, of Newark, Ohio. (10 Aug. 1898, p4 c3). ANDERSON, Thomas R. - Thomas R. Anderson, an old and highly respected citizen of this city, died Sunday morning at his home on north Cherry street. The remains were shipped to Ohio, Monday, for burial (26 May 1897 p5 c3). ARMSTRONG, Andrew M - Andrew M. Armstrong was born in Butler Co., Ohio, Aug. 15, 1827. In 1853 he came to Jackson Twp. Spent 41 years in this county. Died evening of Sept. 1, 1894. Leaves wife, 4 sons and 2 daughters. Funeral held Monday morning. (5 Sept. 1894 p1 c5). BELL, W. H. - W. H. Bell left Saturday evening for Chicago to meet the body of his father who died suddenly in Modesta, Cal. The remains will be conveyed to the home of the deceased at Youngstown, Ohio (2 Jan. 1895 p1 c5). BEYMER, J.H. - J.H. Beymer, born Guernsey Co., Ohio May 29, 1833 - died June 12, 1899, age 66 years and 14 days, at King's Prairie, Monett, Mo. Came to Indiana in 1837. Married Rebecca Page in 1855. Had 5 children, she died in 1861. In 1863 married Margaret Whitaker and had 10 children. Funeral at King's Prairie M.E. Church. (Monett, Mo. Leader)(21 June 1899 p1 c4). BONHAM, George W. - George W. Bonham, died Sunday night at 12:30 - took sick at home of brother, Frank, in Jay county. Born May 30, 1832, Perry Co., Ohio. Came here in 1837 (Washington twp). Civil War soldier. Had 6 brothers and 2 sisters. He leaves 4 children: John M., Mrs. Mary Hackney, Mrs. Cora Lillidudge and Miss Elizabeth Bonham. (9 may 1900 p4 c4). BUCKLES, Elder John - Elder John Buckles, born in Clarke County, Ohio, December 21, 1812, son of David B. and Elizabeth (Covault) Buckles. Died September 25, 1898, age 85. Married Miss Mary Northcutt, August 10, 1834. Eleven children, eight survive. Buried on family lot on N.E. corner of his farm. (5 Oct. 1898, p4 c3). BURCHARD, Wm. - Wm. Burchard expired at the ripe age of 68. Funeral services occurred Monday. Came to this county with parents in 1842 from Guernsey County, Ohio. Was 5th child of family of 12 children. Married Jan. 25, 1846 to Mary Ann Skinn, who died about 2 months before him. Leaves children. (18 June 1891 p2 c2). CASELDINE, Mrs. Sarah A. (McFerren) - Mrs. Sarah A. Caseldine, former resident of Blackford County and daughter of Jesse H. and Lydia McFerren, died at Waynesfield, Ohio, March 22, 1896, age 52. Brother, H.S. McFerren and sister, Mrs. Emma Brown, arrived before she died. (8 Apr. 1896 p8 c3). COLHOWER, Harry - Harry Colhower was called to Dayton, Ohio, Sunday because his father is seriously ill. Mrs. Colhower later received a message from her husband that his father died before he arrived there. (26 Dec. 1900 p1 c6). COUGHLIN, Mrs. Jane - Thursday at the Panhandle station, two sisters, who had not seen each other for 36 years, met and recognized each other. They are: Mrs. Hannah Handley, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Jane Coughlin of this city. They were from Ohio and left there after the Civil War. (22 Aug. 1900 p5 c1). CRABTREE, James - James Crabtree, about 25 years of age, son of John Crabtree, was shot and killed in Cincinnati, Ohio, Saturday morning, by one Joseph Carson. Burial I.O.O.F. Cemetery yesterday. John Crabtree was a Civil War Vet. (27 Aug. 1891 p3 c5). CRIMMEL, Clyde - Invitations are out for the marriage of Clyde Crummel and Miss Babe Hayes, at Tippin, Ohio, Feb. 1, 1898. (26 Jan. 1898 p7 c3). DAIBER, Martin - David and Barbara Daiber, of Bucyrus, Ohio, are visiting their brother, Martin and the family of John Steinhilber. (27 Dec. 1899 p5 c3). ELLIS, Lewis - Lewis Ellis, born in Belmont county, Ohio, March 3, 1815, and died April 26, 1898, age 83y 1m 23d, at home of Elijah F. Frazier, his brother-in-law and sister. Married Charlotte Cox, March 23, 1837. One son and four daughters. Leaves a son and daughter, Grundy County, Mo.; a daughter at Ridgeville. Grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. Lived in Randolph County until 1878. (4 May 1898 p2 c2). FERGUSON, Jacob B. - Jacob B. Ferguson, of Millgrove, and Miss Sarena R. Pottenger, of Hamilton, Ohio, were married by Rev. C.M. Keene, at his residence on N. Walnut Street, on Wednesday evening. (16 Aug. 1899 p7 c6). FIDLER, Uncle Nathan - Nathan Fidler, a well known citizen, died Wednesday night. Born Oct. 15, 1824, in Ohio, learned the carpenter trade, emigrated to Randolph County in 1857. Married in 1847 to Mary A. Walsh. Four children. Came to our county in 1884 and purchased a farm just east of town where he died. Buried at Winchester, Indiana. (29 Apr. 1896 p1 c3). FISHER, Wm. H. - Wm. H. Fisher, of Ravenna, Ohio, and Miss Nellie Spenee, of Hartford City, married Oct. 10, 1892, by C. King. (13 Oct. 1892 p1 c3). FRANK, Lee - Will Frank, of Montpelier, advertised in the Enquirer wanting to know the whereabouts of his father who left Greenville, Darke County, Ohio 25 years ago. Lee Frank, of this city is another son. (19 Aug. 1896 p5 c1). FRASH, Mrs. Kate - Mrs. Kate Frash, over 70 years old, died Monday at her home on W. Kickapoo Street. Married three times, first to James Saunden of Cincinnati, Ohio. He died and she came to Hartford City and married Washington Ervin. He died and she then married Wm. Frash, who died several years ago. Funeral today at M.E. Church in charge of Rev. L. M. Krider. (7 June 1899 p1 c4). FRASH, Levi - Pioneer, Levi Frash, died yesterday morning after useful life of more than 60 years. Born Muskingum County, Ohio, Dec. 7, 1829. Moved to Blackford County in 1842, occupied log cabin where Geo. Gables' hardware store is located. Has three brothers and one sister in state. John at Huntington, George at Bourbon, Michel west of town and Mrs. Rev. Henrietta McCarty at Sharpsville. Had eight children, three survive. (3 Sept. 1891 p3 c5). FULTON, Rev. J. W. - Rev. J. W. Fulton and family departed today for their new home at Kenton, Ohio, where Mr. Fulton has been called to preach at the Presbyterian congregation. (30 Dec. 1896 p8 c3). FULTON, Mrs. (Mother of Rev. Fulton of Hartford City) Rev. J. W. Fulton received word that his mother died at Cambridge, Ohio, at the age of 85. Mother of seven children, six survive, with Rev. Fulton being the youngest. HAY, Hamilton - Born here November 18, 1833, son of Reuben and Margaret (Alisher) Hay, here 1817 and both deceased. Hamilton married 1st Elizabeth Shaw, daughter of Ward and Jeyney (Ward) Shaw. She died 1874? age 43. They had 7 children of whom several went to Dakota Territory. Hamilton married 2nd Nancy Pravo born April 31, 1851 in Wood Co., W.Va., daughter of Peter and Mary A.R. (Buckley) Pravo, here 1865. Hamilton and Nancy had no children. HATHAWAY, Jacob D. Minister - Born January 22, 1815, Washington Co., Pa., here 1874, son of David P. and Elizabeth (Bennett) Hathaway. He married 1st Belinda Smith born November 17, 1815, died May 25, 1881, daughter of Charles and Charlotte (Penniston) Smith. They had 9 children of whom some live in Iowa, Chicago, Chillicothe, Columbus, and Canada. Jacob married 2nd 1881, Mrs. Elizabeth Coffman, born here December 17, 1828, widow of James H. Coffman, and daughter of Charles and Nancy (Turner) Chick, here 1818. James M. Coffman born July 30, 1823, died February 4, 1873 leaving widow with 9 children, some of whom went to Canada and Indiana. Charles Smith, father of 1st wife was born in Md. and died in Hampshire, Va. and wife died 1843. HALLEY, Jessy - Born here February 13, 1828, son of Cornelius and Mary (Drummond) Halley, both deceased. Jessy married Theodosia Plymale, born here January 21, 1834, daughter of Hugh and Catherine (Cottrell) Plymale, here 1822. Jessy and Theodosia had 13 children. Cornelius Halley served in War of 1812. HAMER, George Washington - Born October 26, 1842 in Trumbull Co., Ohio, son of John and Margaret (Newbold) Hamer. He married Sabina Crump, 1870, born here October 27, 1851, daughter of Joseph Crump born 1803 and died 1877, and wife Minerva (McLaughlin) Crump born June 8, 1818. Had 7 children. HUTSINPILLER, David - Born July 11, 1817, here, son of Abraham and Magdalena (Wax) Hutsinpiller both deceased. David married January 5, 1841 Maria Winsor born 1823, died 1883, daughter of Mathewson and Nancy (Potter) Winsor formerly of Providence, R.I. Mathewson born 1785 in R.I. died 1843 here. Nancy born R.I. 1785 died Elkhorn Wisconsin 1860. Abraham and Maria had 11 children. Son Reuben died in Andersonville Prison in Civil war. HOWELL, John W. - Born July 6, 1837, son of Elijah Howell born May 10, 1797 and his wife Rebecca (Roadarmour) Howell born June 10, 1806. John married Cirene Northup 1860, born April 3, 1840, daughter of Henry C. and Charlotte (Gilbert) Northup, here 1816. John and Cirene had 5 children. HOUSE, George - Born November 7, 1837, son of George and Catherine (Mitchell) House. The parents of Catherine here 1836. George was U.S. Deputy Surveyor of Washington territory. HOTT, Samuel Harrison - Born December 3, 1816, Rockingham Co., Va. son of Daniel and Ann Mariah (Weir) Hott. Ann's brother Barnett Weir discoverer of famous Weir Cave in Va. Samuel married 1st Mary Ann West by whom he had 1 child, Mortier L. born 1845 died 1870. Samuel married 2nd Nancy R. Patton 1849 in Highland Co., Ohio born there July 8, 1827, daughter of James and Elizabeth (McClintic) Patton, both deceased. They had 4 children. IRWIN, John - Born here August 8, 1819, son of David and Mary (Fletcher) Irwin, here 1809. David born in County Tyrone, Ireland, came to Penna., 1749, married Mary Fletcher at Marietta, Ohio, bought land here 1827. John married Mary Clark, born July 19, 1826, daughter of Wm. and Elizabeth (Sheppard) Clark, both born in England and married 1817 in London, lived there two years and then here 1820. Their son Daniel in Civil war. John and Mary had 11 children. ISAACS, Richard - Born July 1, 1839 in Wales, son of Isaac and Margaret (Morgan) Isaacs. He married 1863, Anna Jones born Jackson County, Ohio March 1844, daughter of William W. and Elizabeth (Jones) Jones, both born in Wales. Wm W. died 1847 and Elizabeth died 1877. 7 children. IRION, John - Born here 1811, son of Henry and Jemima (Hutchinson) Iron, here 1800. John married 1857 Charlotte Wilson born 1830 in Courtland Co., N.Y., daughter of Andrew L. and Sally (Locke) Wilson, here 1854. John and Jemima had one child John A. IRWIN, Josiah - Born here April 11, 1839, son of Samuel and Biddy (Ham) Irwin. Biddy was born in Va. August 12, 1804. Josiah married 1862 Sally Ann Copeland, born here December 2, 1843, daughter of Samuel and Mary (Keller) Copeland. Josiah and Sally had 7 children. Josiah in Civil war. INGELS, Jesse - Born August 6, 1811 in Uniontown, Pa., son of George and Mary (Ramey) Ingels. He married 1850 Mary A. Waddell born here July 8, 1830, daughter of Wm. and Elizabeth (Hughes) Waddell. They had 9 children. IRION, Simeon - Born here March 21, 1855, son of Robert and Mary C. (Plymale) Irion. He married Mary Roberts 1880, born August 27, 1855, daughter of James and Matilda (Cottrell) Roberts. Now live Pliny, W.Va. JACOBS, Rufus - Born April 7, 1804, Barnadstown, Franklin Co., Mass., son of Abel Jacobs and Asenath (Briggs) Jacobs, here 1819. Abel died 1864, Asenath died 1866. He married 1830 Mary Dupry, born November 7, 1811 on the Island of Jersey, England, daughter of Abraham and Mary Dupry. They had 3 sons. Mary died 1835. Rufus married 2nd 1839, Gottleaben Federer born January 17, 1813 of Wurtemburg, Germany daughter of Matthias and Mary A. (Black) Federar. Matthias deceased. His wife died 1826 in Germany. He married 1st Jemima Iron born December 27, 1837, daughter of Wm. C. and Elizabeth (Trotter) Iron. They had 4 children, Jemima died 1864. Dr. Rufus married 2nd Mary J. Dupre, born here October 8, 1836, daughter of Abraham and Mary (Deckard) Dupre. 2 children. JACOBS, Joseph F. - Brother of the above, born December 5, 1843 married 1867 in Jackson Co., Ohio. Elizabeth J. Turner daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Wilmore) Turner, Jackson Co., Ohio. They had son Albert. JACOBS, David R. - Born Plymouth Co., Mass. July 24, 1817, son of Joshua and Hannah (Cushing) Jacobs both born in Mass. Joshua born 1769 died 1840, Hannah born 1775? and died 1824. David here from Meigs Co., 1880. David married in Meigs County, Ohio 1844, Mary Stowe born Meigs County, Ohio August 8, 1824, daughter of Erastus and Jane (Smith) Stowe. Erastus born Cooperstown, N.Y., in War of 1812, died 1845. Jane born N.H., died 1870. Erastus Stowe, son of Gilbert Stowe, an early settler of N.Y. was killed by Indians and baby Erastus abandoned by the Indians later. David and Mary had 7 children. David R. in Civil war. JENKINS, William S. - Born September 13, 1811 in Bath Co., Va., son of Daniel D. and Mary (Sively) Jenkins, here 1815. He married Cynthia Scott born here April 1, 1812, daughter of Charles and Mary (Darst) Scott. Charles Scott in War of 1812, and here 1815. Wm and Cynthia had 8 children. Their daughter Mary born 1836 married Alex. Fraser and moved to Neb.; daughter Amanda married Rodney Roush; daughter Sarah married Thos. J. James. JOHNSON, Walter - Born April 4, 1835 in Fluvanna Co., Va., son of Henry Johnson born April 15, 1792 same county and died August 3,1877. Henry died in that county June, 1850. Walter married here 1869 to Annie E. Williams born her April 28, 1845, daughter of John and Lucia (Sartin) Williams died 1879 and Lucia died 1876. Walter and Mary had 8 children. JOHNSON, William - Born here 1836?, son of Joshua and Amy (Hawkins) Johnson. Joshua in War of 1812. William married 1st Transylvania Burnett born December 28, 1842, daughter of Murwood and Mary A.W. (Parish) Burnett. Murwood born August 12, 181 son of Jesse Burnett, War of 1812 soldier. Mary Parish born October 20, 1820 daughter of John H. Parrish who was a War of 1812 soldier.
