I would like to find the edition that contains the "M" section to look for infromation on a Ira McCumber(Born 1805) and his wife who were said to be members of the Pioneer society. Postmaster Gable was in that battle. He was a member of the 71st Ohio Infantry. (7 Apr. 1892 p1 c4). GABLE, Wm. N. - Miss Ella Bishop married Wm. N. Gable of the George Gable & Son firm, of this city. Married Monday evening at Portsmouth, Ohio. Will live in Hartford City. (6 Dec. 1894 p8 c3). GABLE, Wm. N. - Wm. N. Gable, the hardware merchant, died at his home on N. Jefferson Street Sunday afternoon. He was born March 2, 1859, of George and Martha Gable. Married three years ago to Miss Ella Bishop of Portsmouth, Ohio, one son age 18 months. Leaves wife, son, father, mother and five brothers. Funeral Tuesday. Buried at I.O.O.F. (22 Dec. 1897 p1 c2). GALLIMORE, Henry - Henry Gallimore and Evaline Craig were married at Hotel Ingram Friday morning, by Elder E.C. Wells. Mr. Gallimore is a traveling salesman. The bride is a resident of Cincinnati, but has been making her home with a brother at Millgrove. (19 Aug. 1896 p5 c3). GOODRICK, James P. - James P. Goodrick, age 67, died Monday, four miles west of town in edge of Grant County. Born in Highland County, Ohio, November 2, 1832, came to Indiana in 1853. Eleven children, seven survive. His only brother, Isaac Goodrick, died at Granville, Saturday evening and funeral Monday. Funeral for James Goodrick held Tuesday at Elizabethtown. (7 June 1899 p1 c4). GUCKER, John - John Gucker, born Wirtemberg, Germany, February 16, 1830, baptized 1844, married January 11, 1869 to Miss Anna Streih. Had five sons and four daughters. Came to America in 1863 to Crawford County, Ohio. Since 1876 lived in Blackford County, Indiana. Died October 5, 1897, age 67y 7m 19d. Leaves wife and children. Funeral Wednesday. (13 Oct. 1897 p2 c1). HAVENS, Harriet - Harriet Havens, of Jackson Twp., died April 26, 1896, age 73y 1m 23d. Born in Ohio and came to Blackford County in 1836. Married October 1, 1840 to Humphrey Anderson and had five children, only two living: Janice H. Anderson and Lurina Armstrong. Then married David Creek and had seven children, one dead, Elizabeth. Two hundred and eighty-seven near relatives in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. (29 April. 1896 p1 c6). HELLYER, Callie - Callie Hellyer, was born in Guernsey County, Ohio, in the year 1849. Died September 5, 1893, age 43y 11m 5d. A member of Seventh-day Adventists. (21 Sept. 1893 p8 c3). HELLYER, William - Wm. Hellyer, died in his buggy while out for a ride. He was 78 years old and a resident of Blackford County since 1852. Coming here from Ohio. Wife survive. Daughters: Mrs. James Osenbaugh, Mrs. W.D. Barckman, Mrs. Frank Willman. Son in the south. Funeral Wednesday. Burial I.O.O.F. Cemetery. (3 June 1896 p1 c4). HESLIN, James - James Heslin, died on the Burns Oil lease near Dundee Thursday. He was the father of Al Heslin, who was killed at Van Buren by Marshal Cartwright some time ago. He will be taken to Toledo, Ohio for burial. (17 Feb. 1897 p5 c3). HOGAN, James - James Hogan, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mattie Hogan, at Columbus, Ohio, last week was one of the pioneer settlers of this county, having settled on what is now the Eaton-Atkinson Farm, in 1838, when Blackford was part of Jay County. (8 Jan. 1896 p8 c2). HOLMES, Mrs. John - Mrs. John Holmes died Friday. Visited at home of her daughter, Mrs. Collins. Her maiden name was Patience Pugh, born in Frederich County, Va., 1799. Married Sept. 23, 1824 to John Holmes, in Green County, Ohio. Mother of six sons and three daughters, five remain to mourn. Moved to Delaware County, Indiana 1841. Funeral at Eaton Sunday. Her age 92 years. (18 Feb. 1892 p1 c2). HOOVER, J.L. - J.L Hoover went to Lima, Ohio, Monday to meet his brother W.F. of the Hoover Furniture Company of that city, and his brother-in-law, J.E.White, of the Keech Furniture Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. The three will proceed to Grand Rapids, Michigan for a furniture show and to buy goods for holidays. (25 July 1900 p5 c4). HOOVER, Mrs. Sophia M. - Mrs. Sophia M. Hoover, age 67 years, died this morning at her home on Chestnut Street. Married Enos Hoover in Miami County, Ohio, in 1852. Came to Hartford City in 1868. Husband died 5 years ago. Three children survive: C.H. Hoover, Miss Jennie and Mrs. Marietta Dunn, New Cumberland. (18 July 1894 p1 c4). HUDSON, Mrs. John - Mrs. John Hudson, died Sunday evening. Funeral held Tuesday, buried I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Born, Sophia C. Crofford, June 1, 1834, Fairfield County, Ohio. Came to Blackford County in 1844 with parents. Married June 1, 1856 in Wabash County, Indiana to John Hudson. Four sons and three daughters. (24 Nov. 1892 p8 c2). HUFFMAN, Mrs. Henry - Mrs. Henry Huffman was 79 years old Thursday, and the event was celebrated by a big dinner. She has been a resident of Hartford City 53 years, coming here from Ohio in 1846. Her children and other relatives were guests. (8 Nov. 1899 p5 c3). HUFFMAN, John R. - John R. Huffman came to Blackford County from Ohio just 51 years ago Thursday. Family came here on a wagon. Court House has been completed by then. (10 Nov. 1897 p7 c2). HUGHES, Mrs. Emily - Mrs. Emily Hughes died Friday noon at her home near Hughes schoolhouse, S.W. of town. Age 89 years and 10 months. Buried at the Stewart Graveyard, S.E. of town. Maiden name was Stewart and born in W. Virginia. Married Aaron Hughes at Noble County, Ohio. He died March 1863. Two children survive, Mrs. Rezim Slater and Mrs. John Cline. (9 Feb. 1898 p1 c5). HUGHES, I.L. - Mr. and Mrs. I.L. Hughes, south of town, departed Thursday for Noble County, Ohio, where Mr. Hughes father lived many years ago. (26 Dec. 1900 p7 c2). HUNT, Mrs. Wm. - The wife of Wm. Hunt, living on N. Cherry Street, died October 12, 1892 and remains taken to Tipton, Ohio. Only a short time ago, his sister, Mrs. Graham, died. Another sister died in Henry County. His wife, sister and mother died within three months. (20 Oct. 1892 p1 c3). JOHNSON, Thomas - Thomas Johnson, born in Clinton County, Ohio, October 10, 1841, died in Blackford County, Indiana December 21, 1897, age 56y 2m 10d. Father is Lemuel Johnson. At age 29 he married Miss Sarah Jane Rix, she died three years later. After six years, he married Mrs. Laura Futrell. Three children survive: Dora, Charles and Olive. (5 Jan. 1898 p4 c3 and c4). JONES, W.D. - W.D. Jones, who makes his home in this city, and a son of the Eaton Manufacturer, was married at Van Wert, Ohio, to Miss Emma Butler, of that city, by Dr. Basford, president of Ohio Wesleyan University. Her father is Henry Butler, treasurer of the town. They will reside in Hartford City. (30 Mar. 1898 p2 c3). JUDY, Infant (Daughter of Peter Judy) - The remains of the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Judy were interred at Eldorado, Ohio, the old home of the family. George Schreel accompanied the family. (25 Oct. 1899 p7 c6). JUDY ORA - Ora, the son of Peter Judy, living at the corner of Grant and Cherry Streets, died Friday, age 22 years. The remains taken to Eldorado, Ohio for burial.
