Mrs. YEAGLEY was born in Maryland in 1778. The families of the CLARKs and YEAGLEYs settled near Hargarstown, Md. Mr. YEAGLEY was by profession a shoemaker, and during the war of 1812 did good service by making shoes for the soldiers. Mrs. YEAGLEY had four brothers who served in the war of 1812, under Gen. William Henry Harrison, and were all through the campaign. Their names were Enos, John, George, and David CLARK. Enos was taken sick on the return march, and, being unable to accompany the rest, was left to die in the Black Swamp, then in the height of its dismalness. After several days had passed, he recovered strength enough to continue on his way, and finally reached his home in Columbiana, Ohio. Mr. YEAGLEY moved to Fairfield County, Ohio, then to Columbiana County, from Pennsylvania at an early date, and settled near New Lisbon. In 1827, he moved to Stark County, Ohio, where he resided until 1848. Mrs. YEAGLEY died in 1843, aged sixty-five years. In 1848, Mr. YEAGLEY and family of seven children moved to Defiance County and settled in Tiffin Township. Mr. YEAGLEY died December 24, 1863. FRENCH - born in Crawford county, Ohio, September 14, 1815, settled in Paulding county in 1853, with his parents, William T. and Mary (YEAGLY) FRENCH. He was married in Paulding, Ohio, March 30, 1867, to Lottie B. HARBAUGH, who was born in Richland county, December 12, 1847. Her parents , Frederick C. and Margaret (ASTON) HARBAUGH, settled in this county in 1866. Mr. French's children are: Frederick William, born November 20, 1867; Minnie K., September 10, 1869, died February 14, 1870; Ethel, January 3, 1877. Mr. FRENCH was in the 100th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry; enlisted July 30, 1863, and was discharged July 31, 1865; was engaged in the battles of Buzzard's Roost, Knoxville, Franklin and Nashville; He is now proprietor of a hotel in Paulding, Paulding county, Ohio. GASTON> Northampton Co, PA> Paulding Co, OH JOSEPH M. GASTON - came to this county in 1848, at the age of twelve, with his parents, Abraham V. and Lydia (METZGER) GASTON, his birth having taken place in Northampton county, Pennsylvania, October 23, 1836. Margaret COLLINS, who became his wife in this county November 30, 1864, was born in Defiance county, May 10, 1842; daughter of John and Harriet (MURPHY) COLLINS. They removed from Defiance county in 1849. Mr. GASTON was a member of the 16th Illinois Volunteer Infantry; was in the service four years, one month and seventeen days; took part in many battles; He had two brothers in the army; one died of disease contracted in service; the other, George, is now living in Nebraska. Mr. GASTON returned to his home and friends without a single wound. His father, John McGHEE, was born near Johnstown, Penn., in 1807, and his grandfather, James McGHEE, was born in County of Tyrone, Ireland, where he grew to manhood and learned the trade of miller. James, the grandfather, married, in Ireland, Margaret HAZELETT, a native of County Tyrone, and to them were born James, Alexander, Eliza, Mary A., Margaret, Elsie, John and Jackson. In an early day James McGHEE migrated to the United States and settled at Johnstown, Penn., where he erected a mill and resided for a few years; he then removed to Columbiana County, Ohio, near New Lisbon, where he erected a grist-mill and remained till 1835, when he removed to Gallia County, Ohio, and erected another grist-mill on Big Raccoon Creek, and also laid out the town of Vinton, Gallia County, where he remained till his death. His son, John, grew to manhood in New Lisbon, Ohio, and received a common-school education. He married Susan WALTERS, who was born in Gettysburg, Penn., and to this union were born James, our subject; Margaret, deceased; Lydia A., wife of William STOCKMAN, of East Township; Joanna, deceased; David, who resides in Kensington, Ohio; Franklin, in Oneida, Ohio; Albert, in Kensington, Ohio; Mary SKELTON, in Augusta Township, Carroll County. Mr. McGHEE remained in New Lisbon till 1835, being engaged in conducting a hotel and farm. In 1835 he came to East Township, Carroll County, where he and his wife ended their days. Politically he was a Democrat. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, his wife being a member of the Lutheran Church. James McGHEE, our subject, was ten years old when his parents came to East Township, where he attended the district school and received a practical education. In 1852 he married Mary ORIN, who was born in 1835, a daughter of Thomas ORIN. To this union have been born John, deceased; Margaret STREETSMAN, of East Township; Aletha, at home; Elizabeth, deceased; Annie YEAGLEY, of Mahoning County, Ohio; Sarah, deceased; Eliza, who resides in Missouri; Charles, a resident of Minerva, Ohio; Mervin, deceased; Ada GRIMES, of Alliance, Ohio; James W. and Minnie J., at home. In 1861 Mr. McGHEE purchased the farm he now owns, which contains 160 acres, and on which he has made many improvements. Politically he is Democratic, and has served as trustee of his township. Chicago, 1891 ------------------------------ X-Message: #5 Date: Sun, 07 Mar 1999 10:28:05 -0800 From: Steve Reiter Subject: OBIT: Alberts, 1992, Trumbull Co Copy of newspaper obit: GEORGE HENRY ALBERTS March 9, 1924-July 16, 1992 Niles, Ohio - George Henry Alberts, 68, of 501 Garland Dr., Niles, Ohio, died at 2:24 p.m. Thursday, July 16, in Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born March 9, 1924, in Keokuk [IA], to Frank and Carrie Alberts. He had worked for the National Gypsum as a machinist for 35 years, retiring in 1968. He was of the Epicopal Faith and had served in the Navy during World War II. He married Gertrude Cavanaugh on February 12, 1945. She survives. Other survivors include: a daughter, Miss Trudy Alberts of the home; a sister and three brothers. He was preceeded in death by a sister.
