He was captured at Island 10 and sent to Camp Chase. He wrote several letters from prison but his family only received one of them. He was exchanged in 1863. In 1929 Mrs. Albert Sidney Porter discovered some letters written by prisoners which were buried in the ground outside the fort. She returned them to my grandfather. The Captain died in 1905 and his wife died in 1917, so they never knew about the letters. Thought this was an interesting story.
