KESSLER (nee CRITTON) From: Mickey Raymer West Milton Herald - Oct. 15, 1902 Obituary of Mrs. Kessler Mrs. W. S. Kessler, daughter of John and Caroline Critton, was born near Tippecanoe city, Ohio, February 18, 1862; died October 7, 1902, aged 40 years, 7 months and 19 days. Deceased was married to W. S. Kessler at the Christian parsonage, Troy, Ohio, December 11, 1879. To this union five children were born, Arthur, Minnie May, Ethel, Ellis and Dora. Two, Minnie May and Ellis have preceded her to the home not made with hands. The deceased united with the M. E. Church when a small girl at Tippecanoe City, and has ever since been a devout and consistent member. She lived her christian faith every day. She became afflicted in 1894 with the dread disease that finally caused her death. Every effort was made through medical and surgical aid to relieve her, but the summons was issued and she responded to the call. Through all her long years of suffering she was patient and kind and bore her intense suffering as only a christian could. She was a kind and loving wife and an affectionate and devoted mother, and while as a pure and beautiful flower she has been taken from us, she has been transplanted in heaven there to join those dear children gone before, and where she in interceding with our Savior for us and were she is beckoning us to come. What is our loss is God's gain. The deceased leaves a husband and three children, Arthur, Ethel, and Dora, and her father, five sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Mattie Shelley, Mrs. Laura B. Wright, Mrs. Marry Keller, Mrs. Lizzie Smith and Miss Nettie Critton, J. F. Critton and D. F. Critton to mourn her loss. May her ashes rest in peace and her soul rejoice in God who gave it. The time is not far distant where there will be a family reunion in Heaven. We bid you good-bye but only for a little while. We will come and meet you soon. The funeral services were held at the residence in Troy, conducted by Rev. Enos Pemberton, assisted by Rev. Dubois, pastor of the M.E. church, also Brother Rozell, or Troy. The bereaved husband extends his thanks to Rev. Pemberton also to the choir for their services and sympathy in his greatest bereavement.
