CASS COUNTY cont. SOLOMON DEWEY, born in Coshocton, Ohio, Jan. 4, 1852 and at age of eleven removed with his parents to Hadley, Mich. and here in 1878. SAMUEL D. FITCHIE born Allegheny City, Penna.; to Nebraska in 1855. He married in 1865 to Ruhamah H. Baker a native of Ohio. They had 7 children. D.C. FLEMING was born in Greenville, Darke Co., Ohio, Mar. 15, 1845. To Weeping Water, Nebraska in 1869 from Hardin Co., Iowa. WILLIAM MICKLE, born in Ashland Co., Ohio, Feb. 8, 1847. Later to Richland Co., Ohio with his parents. To Cass County in 1867 from Washington Co., Iowa. JOSEPH F. PARKINS was born in Athens Co., Ohio in 1846; to Tama Co., Iowa in 1864 and here in 1869. He married here at Weeping Water in 1872, to Mary J. Detwiler, a native of Wheeling, W.Va. They had Clara and Earl D. HON. EUGENE L. REED born at Vienna, Trumbull Co., Ohio in 1841. In 1846 to Iowa with his parents and then came to Nebraska in 1857. He was son of W.H. Reed. He had brothers, Lucius F. and L.F. Reed. In 1864 he married at Weeping Water, Nebraska to Anna Bellows, a native of Ashtabula, Ohio. They had William, Stella, and Clinton. In 1870 Hon. Eugene was elected to the State Senate. The Reed family were engaged in the lumber business. BENJAMIN G. HOOVER born in Greenville, Ohio, Dec. 8, 1849. In May 1863 removed with his father to Cass Co., Iowa and later came here. He married in 1870 to Miss Emily O. Twiss who was born in Indiana in May 1855. They had Earl, Charles, and Maud. Benjamin G. was dealer in machinery. CAPT. JAMES T.A. HOOVER was born in Wurtemburg, Germany, Sept. 26, 1826. In 1844 when James was 18 years old his father had him come to America to avoid being in the Emperor's service like his other sons were. He settled in Darke Co., Ohio. He served in the Civil War and was wounded. He was a farmer and manufacturer. He married in Greenwich, Ohio in 1848 to Miss Isa Huoffunhele. They had: Benj., Ellen, James, Elizabeth, Mary, Amelia, Andrew. William and Isabella. He came to Cass Co., Nebraska in 1863. GRANVILLE E. FLEMING born in Fayette Co., Pa. in 1830 and reared on a farm in Wayne Co., Ohio. He went to Rock Bluffs, Nebraska in 1857. He married here in 1860 to Ann E. Coleman. She d. in 1863 leaving 2 children, Ellen and Eliza. He married 2nd in Mills Co., Iowa in 1866 Matilda McMerlin and had Cora, Marvin, James and Torrence. Granville was a farmer and miller. CONSTANT J. MARTIN born in France, Sept. 12, 1832 and came to Stark Co., Ohio with parents when quite young. Came here to Cass County in 1857. He married in 1857 to Lucy J. Pagnard, a native of Switzerland. Had Chas., Mattie and Rose. JACOB R. VALLERY born in Pike Co., Ohio Jan. 4, 1848 and went to Nebraska with his parents in 1856. He married in Cass County in 1875 to Mary Richardson. 2 children. JAMES W. WILEY born in Wood Co., Ohio, Aug. 9, 1849. He came to Nebraska with his father, Dr. W.W. Wiley in 1859. He married in this county in 1875 to Martha J. Hastings, a native of Virginia. They had: Edna, Dovie and Robert R. DR. WILLIAM W. WILEY born in Franklin Co., Ohio, Feb. 18, 1817, son of Dr. James Wiley. Wm. W. practiced a while in Wood Co., Ohio and then removed to Nebraska in 1857. He married in Wood Co., Ohio in 1844 to Gertrude M. Bell, a native of that county. They had: Arminta, Hattie, James, Edward, Lottie and Alma. HON. SAMUEL KIRKPATRICK born in Adams Co., Ohio Aug. 31, 1815, later to Montgomery Co., Ind. with parents, then to Louisa Co., Iowa and then to Nebraska in 1855. He was State Representative here. He married at Crawfordsville, Ind. in 1836 to Elizabeth McMillan, a native of Va. She died in 1839. He married 2nd in Boone Co., Iowa to Elizabeth Craig, a native of Ohio. They had 8 children. JOHN MURFIN was born in England, Mar. 8, 1829. He emigrated to N.Y. City and then came to Nebraska in 1869 from Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio. He married in Manchester, England in 1849 to Sarah James, a native of Sheffield, England. They had: Edwin J., (atty), Lucy Atherstone, Annie M., Ellen O. and Alice. HON. LEVI G. TODD born in Chautauqua Co., N.Y. and went to Nebraska in 1853. He married in Lee Co., Iowa in 1856 to Lydia Jones a native of Ohio. They had 7 children. JAMES MONROE CRAIG born in Wayne Co., Ohio, Oct. 9, 1816. He went to Nebraska in 1860. His father, Samuel Monroe Craig came to Nebraska with him. GEORGE A. CREAMER born in Fayette Co., Ohio, Oct. 9, 1816. He removed to McLean Co., Ill in 1850 and to Nebraska in 1859. He married in 1856 in Bloomington, Ill. to Elizabeth Hefner. They had: Emily, Charles, Mariam, Margaret and Manda. JUSTUS LILLIE born in Medina Co., Ohio, in 1839 and reared in Kalamazoo, Mich. He came here in 1871 to Cedar Creek. He married in Kalamazoo in 1865 to Emma Cooley. She died in 1879 leaving son Albert. He married 2nd here in 1882 to Annie Vetch. SAMUEL RICHARDSON born in Belmont Co., Ohio, Dec. 12, 1827, then to Noble Co., Ohio with parents at age of 17 years. He came to Cass County in 1860. He married in Monroe Co., Ohio in 1849 to Jane E. Thomas. She died in 1864 leaving 3 children: Mary (Mrs. J.R. Valley), Margaret (Mrs. Daniel Satchell) and Jane C. He married 2nd in 1864 to Mary E. Kennedy, widow of Barton Kennedy. They had: William, Frank and Florence E. FRANK P. TRASTER born in Wooster, Ohio, Feb. 29, 1856 and went to Nebraska in 1880 from Tazewell Co., Ill. He was a merchant and teacher. HON. JAMES HALL born in Highland Co., Ohio, June 23, 1826. He went to Clark Co., Iowa in 1854 and to Cass County in ca 1869. He married in Madison Co., Ind. in 1851 to Elizabeth Cassel. They had Jos., Martha, Sumner, Allie, John, Emma, George and M. Anderson. DR. JAMES A KENASTON born in Cabot, Caledonia Co., Vt. then to Delaware Co., Ohio with father at age of 11 years. He stayed with his uncle Mark Daniels in Sterling, Ill. for a short while, then to Wisconsin and Iowa. Went to Nebraska in 1868. He was a physician and minister. He married in Worthington, Ohio in 1849 to Miss Caroline Scanlin who was born in Hardy Co., Va., Sept. 12, 1829. They had Henry, Harney, Helen, Flora, Walter, Sanford, James, Robert Logan, Harry, Hampton and Roy. First 2 born in Ill.; 6 in Iowa; 2 in Nebraska. GARY TREAT born in Talmadge, Ohio, Sept. 20, 1838. Came to Nebraska in 1860. He married in Tabor, Iowa in 1867 to Catherine Hanley. Had Charles and Annie May. TO CEDAR COUNTY P.W. BROWN a native of Highland Co., Ohio. Served in Civil War.
