HENRY A. LESH - March 3, 1927, page 1 Instantly Killed by Auto in Front of His Home Henry A. Lesh, age 75 years, was instantly killed in front of his home at Fairhope, Friday morning by an automobile said to have been driven by I. S. Harding, of 822 Gibbs Avenue NW, Canton. Mr. Lesh was leaving his home to go to the Fairhope school house, where he was employed as janitor, when the accident occurred. Henry A. Lesh was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lesh and was born on the old home farm north of Fairhope. He attended high school at Louisville and afterwards located at Auburn, Indiana, where he was engaged in the hardware business. He returned to Fairhope more than 30 years ago where he resided ever since. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Effie Lesh, and two daughters, Mrs. Howard Brechbill, of Louisville, and Mrs. M. F. Weida, of Fairhope: a brother Ephriam of Egan, Texas and four grandchildren. Mr. Lesh became a member of the Masonic Fraternity while a resident of Auburn and the members of Juilliard Lodge, No. 460, F. & A. M., held their funeral services at the home on Sunday evening. Monday afternoon Rev. F. W. Hoffman conducted funeral services at the home and burial was made in the Union cemetery. Neighbors of Mr. Lesh acted as pall bearers. ********************** CHARLES LESH - September 29, 1904, page 4 Death of Charles Lesh Death came to the relief of Charles Lesh, the twenty-two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Lesh, Tuesday afternoon. The young man had been an invalid for a period of eight years and during the greater part of this time was confined to his bed. He first suffered from rheumatism and later necrosis developed and his condition was such that recovery was impossible. Charles was a patient sufferer during the years of his sickness and devoted many of the weary hours to reading for which he developed a great liking. His parents did everything to lighten his burdens and gave him the most tender care. The funeral will be held from the residence, south of Louisville, this (Thursday) afternoon. Services will be conducted at the Reformed church at Louisville by Rev. J. Theodore Bucher, of Osnaburg. and Rev. G. W. Brown. Burial in the Union cemetery. ********************** EDNA B. LESH - October 14, 1976, page 3 Edna B. Lesh Edna B. Lesh, age 87, of 3966 Broadway Rd., N. E., Louisville, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 7, at the St. Joseph Hospice following a few months illness. She was born at Maximo, Ohio on Feb 7, 1889 and lived in the Louisville area most of her life. She was a member of the Paradise United Church of Christ in Louisville and the Fairhope Willing Workers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester in 1965. Survivors include 4 daughters, Helen M. Ashbaugh of the home, Mrs. Wayne (June) Groves and Mrs. Wilbur (Joyce) Warner, both of Louisville: Mrs. Herbert (Wanda) Dawson of Canton; 2 sons, Kenneth of Canton and Harold of Louisville; 1 brother, Calvin Slusser of Canton; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children. Services were at 11 a.m. Monday in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home of Louisville with Rev. Robert L. Keiser officiating. Friends called from 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday at the funeral home. Interment was in Union Cemetery. *************************** EDWARD B. LESH - May 26, 1949, page 1 Edward B. Lesh Edward B. Lesh, retired farmer, died Saturday at 11 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. L. Himes of Fairhope, Rd. 4, Louisville. Death followed a short illness. Ninety-two, Mr. Lesh was a life resident of Stark County. His parents, Louis and Mary Lesh, also were born in the county and were Stark pioneers. He was a member of the Fairhope E. U. B. Church. Besides his daughter, he leaves three sons, John H. of Canton, Lester E. of Fairhope and Louis R. Lesh of North Canton; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Rev. Richard E. Appel conducted services Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Fairhope E. U. B. Church. Burial in Warstler Cemetery. *************************** MRS. EDWARD B. LESH - November 30, 1944, page 7 Mrs. Edward B. Lesh Mrs. Elenore Lesh, 82, wife of Edward B. Lesh, died Monday morning in her home at Fairhope after a long illness. In April, 1941, Mr. and Mrs. Lesh celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Lesh was born in Marlboro twp. and was a member of Fairhope Evangelical church and the Willing Workers. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. C. L. Himes of Fairhope; three sons, John H. and Louis of Canton and Lester Lesh of Fairhope; one sister, Mrs. Delia Frazer; one brother, John C. Harmony of Canton; 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the home and 3 in Warstler Church in charge of Rev. S. S. Davis. Burial in Warstler cemetery. ********************* MISS ALICE S. LESH - January 7, 1943, page 1 Miss Alice S. Lesh Miss Alice Sarah Lesh, 69, a resident of Louisville until 10 years ago, died Friday in a Dayton hospital following a goitre operation. She was a member of the United Brethren church and Sunday school of Louisville. A sister, Mrs. L. L. Burlingame, of Palo Alto, Calif.; a brother, John H. Lesh of Cleveland, and a half-sister, Mrs. Mathias Sell of Canton, survive. The body was brought to the Sluss parlors at Louisville where services were held Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev Paul Frees in charge and burial was made in the Union cemetery. ************************** MRS. ALICE LESH - January 12, 1933, page 1 Mrs. Alice Lesh, 74, widow of John Lesh, died at the home of her son, Harvey Lesh, 303 North Nickel Plate street, on Friday. Mrs. Lesh was born in Louisville, where she spent most of her life. She was the daughter of Jacob and Hannah Seefong. Her husband preceded her in death five years ago. She is survived by two sons, Harvey, at whose home she died, and Murray of Maximo; one daughter, Mrs. Lemmie Fullmer of Canton' one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller of Canton, and one brother, William Seefong of Louisville. Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Services were held at the First Brethren church Monday afternoon in charge of Rev. A. E. Whitted. Interment was made in the Union cemetery. *************************** MRS AMANDA LESH - June 12, 1919, page 1 Miss Amanda Lesh died at the home of her sister, Mrs. G. W. Powell, at Marlboro, Monday morning at one o'clock. She had been sick since February with heart trouble but her final sickness was of two hours duration only. Her age was sixty-seven years. Miss Lesh was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Lesh. She was born in Freeburg but her parents moved to Louisville when she was very young and many years of her life were spent here. Her father was proprietor of the Lesh hotel just after the close of the Civil war. About thirty years ago she went with her sister and family to Marlboro where she has since resided. Miss Lesh came to Louisville frequently for a visit and her friends always heartily welcomed her for with them she was always a great favorite. Her last visit was about a week before her death occurred. Her sister, Mrs. Powell, is now the only surviving member of the Lesh family and she and the members of her family are deeply grieved because of the death of one who was so near and dear to them. Funeral services were held at the home Thursday morning and were conducted by Rev. Chaddock, pastor of the Methodist church of Marlboro, Interment was in the Union cemetery at Louisville. ********************* MRS ANNIE MARIA LESH - April 26, 1888, page ? Died Mrs. Annie Maria Lesh was born in Lancaster county, Pa., on January 23d., 1827, and died April 20th, 1888, aged 61 years. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Lesh November 2nd, 1845, the union resulting in the gift of four children, two of whom, with her husband, have preceded her to the eternal world. There remain two children, eight grand children, an aged mother, four sisters and three brothers to mourn the loss. She was a consistent member of the Reformed church of this place; always faithful in the performance of her Christian duties; when her end came she looked to her Redeemer, in abiding faith and trust in His merits and calmly fell asleep. Jesus can make a dying bed feel soft as downy pillows are. While on his breast I lean my head, and breath my life out sweetly there. ********************* HAROLD E. LESH - May 31, 1990, page 6 Harold E. Lesh Harold E. (Heinie) Lesh, age 75, of 4184 Chester Ave. NE, Louisville, passed away Friday, May 25, in Aultman Hospital. Born in Louisville on Jan. 19, 1915 to the late Lester and Edna Slusser Lesh, he was retired from the Louisville School system as a custodian. He was a dairyman for several dairies including the Lesh-Himes Dairy. He was a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace E., in 1976. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Eleanor) Bower of Louisville; a son, Thomas of Louisville; three sisters, Wanda Dawson of Canton, Helen Ashbaugh and Mrs. Wilbur (Joyce) Warner of Louisville; a brother, Kenneth, of Canton; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, in the Stier-Israel Funeral Home of Louisville with Rev. Scott Hayward officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. ******************** HARVEY LESH - July 23, 1964, page 4 Harvey Lesh Death came to Mr. Lesh, 89, of Indiana ave, on Friday. He had been a farmer and lived in the Louisville area all his life. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Martha Bleta of the home; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The Rev. George Solomon conducted rites on Monday in Sluss funeral home, and burial was made in Union cemetery. ********************** HENRY LESH - September 28, 1898, page 1, col 2 (under heading of Fair Hope) Henry Lesh, one of our old and respected citizens, died Thursday afternoon, at two o'clock, after a brief illness caused by apoplexy. Mr. Lesh was an honorable citizen of Nimishillen township all his life, having lived and died upon the farm upon which he was raised. In 1842 he was united in marriage to Miss Lydia Henninger. This union was blessed with three sons and one daughter. His wife, daughter and one son preceded him to the spirit world. His wife died eighteen years ago. He lived to the good old age of eighty one years and twenty days. Rev. G. W. Brown delivered an excellent funeral addres (sic) to an over crowded house. Interment in the Fairhope cemetery. (Also on the same date and page is the following paragraph) Mrs. Burk, of Auburn, Ind., is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Henry Lesh, at Fair Hope. ********************* ELIZABETH LESH - October 24, 1929, page ? Elizabeth Lesh, aged 76, who fell and broke her hip two weeks ago, died Saturday afternoon at the Fuller home, 13th street and Shorb avenue, NW, Canton. She was the widow of the late Reuben Lesh. The deceased spent the greater part of her life in Louisville and vicinity. Surviving are a son Walter D. Schrantz, a stepson, (and I didn't get the rest of the article) ********************* GEORGE LESH - July 13, 1894, page 5 Death of George Lesh Mr. George Lesh, an old and respected citizen of Louisville, died, Tuesday morning, aged about 70 years. Mr. Lesh was a victim of that dreadful disease, cancer. The funeral was held at the Evangelical church at Fair Hope this morning. ********************* MR. GEORGE LESH - July 20, 1894, page 5 Died Mr. Geo. Lesh, an aged and respected citizen died at his home in west Louisville, July 10th 1894, aged 75 years and 6 months. He had been sick for a long time with sore hands which proved to be cancers and which finally caused his death. His suffering was intense, and yet he never complained. He has always lived in Stark county, and was well known here and hence needs no lengthy comment. His funeral was conducted by the Rev. Phillips in Fairhope church, Revs. Brown, Grim and Summers assisting, and his remains were interred in the Fair Hope cemetery. Mr. Lesh had considerable property at the time of his decease which he willed to his widow as long as she lives and to be equally divided between his two sons or their heirs at the widows death. These are his only heirs, but they with many friends mourn the loss of a dear friend. Let us hope their loss is his gain. ********************** HENRY B LESH - October 18, 1895, page 5, col 3 Henry B. Lesh, who resided at Middle Branch, died very suddenly Tuesday from apoplexy, aged 49 years. The funeral services were held this morning at the Werner church, Rev. D. G. Davidson, officiating. The deceased was a step-son of Mrs. Belle Lesh, of Louisville. ********************** GRACE E. LESH - February 26, 1976, page 5 (I don't have a very good copy to work from) Grace E, Lesh age 61 of 4184 Chester Ave. NW, Louisville, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb 1_, at Auburn Hospital following a short illness. She was born at Cleveland on Oct. 2_, 1914 and lived in the Louisville area the past 40 years. She was a Louisville Board of Education employee and a member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Harold; 1 daughter, Mrs. (Eleanor) Bower of Louisville; 1 son, Thomas of Parkerburg, W. Va; 1 sister, Mrs. Ruth Bird of Louisville; 2 brothers, Robert L. Zeller of Canton, and Ret. Col. Joseph L. Zeller of Tucson, Arizona; and 1 granddaughter. Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Steir - Israel Funeral Home of Louisville with Rev. Russell Martin officiating. Friends called from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment was in Union cemetery. ********************* HOWARD R. LESH - August 25, 1904, page 5? Howard R. Lesh Howard R. Lesh, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lesh, died at the family residence in West Louisville last Thursday evening at eight o'clock. He was born in Louisville, January 24, 1888, making his age 16 years, 6 months and 22 days. During last winter he became afflicted with rheumatism and although he was given constant medical attention it was of no avail and finally caused his death. During his sickness he was a great sufferer, but was always patient. Howard was an obedient and dutiful son, a good pupil, and his pleasing disposition won for him many friends who are grieved over his early demise. He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Peter Fulmer and Miss Lettie Lesh, and two brothers, Harvey and Murray Lesh, all residents of Louisville. Funeral services were held at the Progressive Brethren church, Sunday afternoon, and the attendance was very large. Rev. Alvin Byers and Rev. G. W. Brown were the officiating clergymen. Rev. Byers read as a scripture lesson the twenty-second chapter of Revelations., The sermon was delivered by Rev. Brown, he choosing for his text I John 5:12 - "He that bath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." The casket was covered with beautiful flowers and was carried by six of his young friends, namely; Oliver Snyder, Homer Hutt, William Effinger, Arthur Snyder, Louis Clapper and Fremont Hershberger. The remains were interred in the Union cemetery. ********************* ISSAC N. LESH - December 16, 1915, page 5 Issac N, Lesh died recently at Ft. Wayne, Ind. in his 88th year. Mr. Lesh was born in Stark Co., near Louisville, June 9, 1828. He was the eleventh child of a family of thirteen children and the last to pass away. Mr. Lesh went to Indiana 65 years ago and engaged in farming. His first wife was Sarah Revert who died in 1896. They had five children of whom two are living, namely; Mrs. C. J. Neal and Emmet Lesh, of Ft Wayne. The second wife also is living. Funeral services were held at New Haven, Ind. where burial was made. ********************** MRS ISABELLE LESH - February 10, 1916, page 5 Mrs. Isabelle Lesh died at her home on West Main st. at one o'clock Monday morning. She had been sick for a number of years with a complication of troubles, and several weeks before her death her condition became worse. Friends and neighbors tenderly and untiringly cared for her during her final illness. Mrs. Lesh was a daughter of John and Alice Elliott. She was born on a farm near Millersburg, Ohio, September 12, 1840, and was seventy five years of age. July 18, 1878, she was married to George Lesh, and since then she resided at Louisville. Mrs. Lesh is survived by no immediate relative. During the many years she resided in Louisville she made many friends who frequently visited with her and were always cordially received. Shortly after coming to Louisville Mrs. Lesh became a member of the United Brethren church, where funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, a large concourse of friends being in attendance. The pastor Rev. W. W. Moody officiated. Interment was made in the cemetery at Fairhope, beside her husband who died a number of years ago. ********************* JACOB LESH - July 15, 1892, page 5 Jacob Lesh was born in York County, Pa., in the year 1912, April 6th, and died July 9th, 18 92, aged 80 years, 3 months and 3 days. When 4 years of age, he moved to Stark county and has been almost a continuous resident since. His wife preceded him in death 9 years since. Three sons, six daughters, 27 grand children are numbered among his descendants. He was a member of the Evangelical Association for some 50 years. Mr. Lesh was a constant reader of the Herald from its beginning, until about three months before death, when his eyesight failed him. The funeral on Monday afternoon was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends, who came to pay their last respects to the departed. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. Grimm. ********************** MRS. JENNIE LESH - May 3, 1923, page 1 Mrs. Jennie Lesh died in Canton, Tuesday, at the age of 62 years. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Lesh, and three sons. The Lesh family were former residents of Fairhope. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Catholic church at Canton, Friday morning and interment will be made in St. John's cemetery. ********************** JOHN R. LESH - June 23, 1927, page 1 John R. Lesh, 75, died at his home at 2__2 Mahoning road Canton Sunday evening from a complication of diseases. Mr. Lesh was a resident of Louisville until two years ago when he moved his family to Canton. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Lesh, two sons, Harvey, of Louisville; Murray, of Maximo; two daughters, Mrs. Peter Fulmer, and Mrs. P. Leiter, of Canton; one brother Josiah Lesh, of Louisville; three sisters, Mrs. Caroline Hersberger, of Fairhope; Mrs. Mary Bowers and Mrs. Sarah Stump of Louisville. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Brethren church on East Main Street, and were conducted by Rev. R. F. Porte. Interment was made in the Union cemetery. ********************** JOSEPH LESH - February 9, 1939, page 4 Joseph Lesh Joseph Francis Lesh, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lesh of 616 E. Broad St. died in the home Friday morning after a long illness from a complication of diseases. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. The parents and four sisters, Edna, Martha, Mary and Barbara Anna survive. Funeral rites were held Monday at 9 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic church. Burial in St. Louis cemetery. ********************* MISS LETTIE LESH - November 19, 1931, page 1, col 2 Miss Lettie Lesh, 38, daughter of Mrs. Alice Lesh, died in her home at 2412 Mahoning road, Canton, Saturday morning following an illness of ten weeks. Miss Lesh was born in Louisville where she spent over thirty years of her life. She is survived by her mother; one sister, Mrs., Peter Fullmer of Canton' and two brothers, Harvey Lesh of Louisville and Murray Lesh of Maximo. Funeral services were held at the First Brethren church Monday afternoon in charge of Rev. A. E. Whitted. Interment was made in the Union cemetery. ********************** MRS. JOSIAH LESH - December 26, 1912, page 4 Death came to Mrs. Josiah Lesh very unexpectedly a short time before noon on Tuesday. She had gone to the home of her mother, Mrs. Margaret Stauffer, on high street,. with a basket of Christmas presents. Upon leaving for her home she took a short route through the alley and when across from DeVaux's livery barn was stricken with apoplexy. It is thought she lay where she fell for about an hour before her body was found. Neighbors carried her into the residence of Mrs. Anna Chappius and when Dr. Hamilton arrived he said she had been dead for some time. Undertaker Sluss was called and took the body home. Mrs. Lesh was aged 57 years. She had always lead an active life and was ever ready to do an act of kindness. She was a most faithful member of the United Brethren church and took an active part in the work of the various departments of the church. A dark gloom spread over this whole community when it was announced that Mrs. Maggie Lesh, as she was familiarly know, had passed away. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Josiah Lesh, and one daughter, Mrs. Matthias Sell, of Canton. By his first wife Mr. Lesh had the following children: Mrs. J E. Balizet, of Dayton: Mrs. L. L. Burlingame of Palo Alto, Calif; John Lesh, of Wheeling, W., Va., and Miss Alice Lesh, who resides at home. To these children Mrs. Lesh gave a mother's kindly care. Her aged mother, Mrs. Margaret Stauffer, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Vignos, are also living. The funeral services are announced for Friday afternoon at one o'clock at the Untied Brethren church. Rev. W. W. Moody will have charge. ********************* MRS. LEWIS LESH - September 28, 1905, page 5 Death of Mrs. Lewis Lesh After a long illness Mrs., Lewis Lesh died at her home at Fairhope on Monday, aged sixty-five years. Her maiden name was Mary Behrle and she was born in Allegheny county, Pa. About fifty years ago she and Lewis Lesh were married. They became the parents of two sons and five daughters, one child having died in infancy. The funeral services will be held at Fair Hope United Evangelical church this afternoon where Mrs. Lesh had worshiped for many years. The body will be interred in the cemetery back of the church. ********************** JOSIAH LESH - September 15, 1932, page 1 Josiah Lesh, 86, died suddenly at his home, 506 East Gorgas street, Saturday evening. Mr. Lesh was born on a farm north of Fairhope. For 15 years he was proprietor of The Lesh House and conducted a grocery store for a number of years. Mr. Lesh was a member of the Evangelical church. He is survived by four daughters and one son, namely Mrs. Lauren Balizet of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. L. L. Burlinggame of Palo ?Alto, California; Mrs. Mathias Sell of Canton; Alice of the home, and John Lesh of Cleveland; one sister, Mrs. Eli Hershberger of Farihope, and 11 grandchildren also survive. Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home at 1:45 and at the United Brethren church at 2:00 in charge of Rev. E. E. Grubbs and Rev. S., S. Davis. The body was placed in the mausoleum of the Union cemetery, awaiting the arrival of his daughter from California. ********************* LESTER E. LESH - May 27, 1965, page 4 Lester E. Lesh Mr. Lesh, 73, of 3966 Broadway ave died on Wednesday, Mary 19, following an illness of two years. He suffered with a heart condition. Mr. Les was the founder of the Ideal Dairy Co. which later became the Canton Pure Milk Co. In 1920 he and Mr. Curtis Himes, his brother-in-law, formed the Lesh-Himes Milk Co. in Fairhope. He served as president of the company until he retired in 1955. He was a member of the Paradise United Church of Christ, the Men's Bible Class and the Men's Brotherhood of the church. Survivors include his wife, Edna, four daughter, Mrs. Blair Ashbaugh of North Canton, Mrs. Wayne Groves of Louisville, Mrs. Herbert Dawson of Canton and Mrs. Wilbur Warner of Louisville; two sons, Att'y Kenneth Lesh of Massillon and Harold Lesh of Fairhope; one sister, Mrs. Curtis Himes of Louisville and two brothers, John of Canton and Lewis of North Canton., There are ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. and Mrs. Lesh, the former Edna Slusser, observed their 53rd wedding anniversary on April 3. Private funeral services were held on Saturday at the Stier funeral home with the Rev. Robert Keiser officiating. Burial will be made in the-- ler cemetery. ********************** WESLEY LESH - September 26, 1918, page 1 Wesley Lesh, a son of Reuben Lesh, of Osnaburg, died at Gallipolis, Ohio at the epileptic hospital on Wednesday. He had been an inmate of the institution for the past ten years. He is survived by his father, one brother Byron Lesh of Louisville, and a sister Mrs. Joseph Jones, of Canton. Mr. Lesh was born January 31, 1870, on a farm near Louisville, and he was an invalid for almost his entire life. Funeral services were held at Gallipolis where interment was also made. ********************* WILLIAM LESH - March 7, 1907, page 4 Mrs. Josiah Summers received the sad news from Vernon, Texas, that her brother, William Lesh, had died. Mr. Lesh was born and raised on a farm near Louisville and when a young man went to North Manchester, Indiana. There he was married and lived for a number of years and then moved to Texas for his health. He bought a farm of one hundred and sixty acres where he lived until his death. Mr. Lesh was twice married, both wives being dead. One son, Edwin Lesh, survives to mourn his father's death. He also leaves two sisters and one brother. They are Mrs. D. Y. Shirk, of Manchester, Ind.' Mrs. J. Summers, of Louisville and Joseph A. Lesh, of Kentucky. ********************** WILLIAM LESH - August 12, 1937, page 1 William Lesh William Lesh, 8, son of Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lesh, East Broad street, died at his home Monday at 5:30 a.m. following a day's illness. Besides his parents he leaves four sisters and one brother. Services are being held this Thursday morning at St. Louis Catholic church in charge of Rev. Fr. J. T. Ruffing. Burial in St,. Louis cemetery. ********************* ZACHARIAH LESH - March 2, 1894, page 5, col 2 Zachariah Lesh died last night at his home north west of town, near Mt. Zion church, aged 76 years. Mr. Lesh had been suffering from cancer of the face and it was this malady that caused his death. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at the house' services at the Valley Chapel church near Canton. ********************* MILDRED L. LESH - June 10, 1982 Mildred L Lesh, Mildred L. Lesh, age 83, of 456 Willaman St., NW, North Canton, passed away at the Manor Care Nursing Home Tuesday morning, June 1, following an extended illness. Born in New Albany, Ohio, Jan. 19, 1988, she lived in the area all her life. She was of the Catholic faith and was preceded in death by her husband Merray (sic?) in 1950 and two sons and two daughters. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edna Kiminas of North Canton, Mrs. Lawrence (Martha) Loveless of Louisville, and Barbara Lesh of Gallipolis, Oh.; one brother, Theodore Barnes of Gallipolis Oh.; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial was held Thursday June 3, at 10 A.M. in St. Louis Catholic Church with burial in Union Cemetery. Calling hours were held Wednesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home. ********************* MURRAY L. LESH - June 21, 1951, page ? Murray L. Lesh Murray L. Lesh, 68, died Wednesday afternoon at his home at 702 E. Broad street, following a three weeks illness. Surviving are his widow, Mildred, four daughters, Mrs., Michael Kiminas of Canton, Mrs. Lawrence Loveless of Louisville and Mary and Barbara of the home, one brother, Harvey of Louisville, and Mrs. Clemmie Grindstaff of Canton. Services will be conducted by Rev. Emerson Rugh at the Sluss Funeral Home, Saturday at 2 o'clock. Burial in Union cemetery. Friends may call at the Sluss Funeral Home Friday evening. ********************** PETER LESH - December 12, 1901, page 5 (my Great Great Grandfather) Death of an Aged Citizen Death came unexpectedly to Peter Lesh, at his residence in Fair Hope, Tuesday morning. Mr. Lesh had been in feeble health for a number of years and died while seated in his arm chair. He was suffering from consumption, but paralysis is supposed to have been the immediate cause of his demise. He was aged nearly 77 years. The deceased was a son of Peter Lesh, who came from Pennsylvania to Ohio, with his family, when this territory was first settled. He was one of a family of thirteen children and two brothers, Isaac Lesh, of Indiana, and Lewis Lesh, of Louisville, and one sister, Mrs. Daniel Tombaugh, of Fair Hope, survive. Mr. Lesh was married to Miss Leah Youtz, who died about ten years ago. Two sons are living, namely, Henry Lesh of Fair Hope, and Ephriam Lesh, who resides in Texas. During his illness Mr. Lesh was tenderly nursed by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lesh, who resided with him. The deceased had for many years been a member of the United Evangelical church and was a faithful attendant at the services of that denomination. The funeral services will be held at the Fairhope Evangelical church at 10 o'clock, Friday morning. Revs. Brown and Domer will officiated. ********************* REUBEN REESE LESH - March 20, 1924, page 5 Reuben Reese Lesh died at his home on South Mill street, Sunday evening after an illness of three weeks duration caused by a broken hip which he sustained in a fall. Mr. Lesh was born at Fairhope, March 28, 1844, and died March 16, 1924 making his age nearly 80. He was married three times, first to Miss Mary Landis, January 8, 1868. After her death he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Oberlin, December 11, 1881, and after her death he was married to Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Schrantz, of North Canton, who survives with his son Byron L. Lesh of the home, and Mrs. Joseph Jones of Canton, a daughter; also Walter Walter (sic) Schrantz, a stepson. Mrs. Homer Fockler, and adopted daughter, and the following brothers and sisters; - Josiah Lesh, John Lesh, Mrs. Eli Hershberger, Mrs. Mary Bowers and Mrs. J. B. Stump, all residing in Louisville and Fairhope, and Mrs. Malinda Essig of Canton,. Their are seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the home. Rev. F. W. PETER LESH (my great great grandfather) Sudden Death of Peter Lesh, of Fairhope - Funeral Services to be Held Friday Fairhope, O., Dec. 11. - (Special.) - Peter Lesh, of Fairhope, died December 10 of apoplexy. He went into the summer house and was seated on a chair, where he was found shortly afterward by his daughter. She called him, but received no answer. She immediately called neighbors who hurried to his home to find his lifeless body sitting in his chair. He is to be buried at the Fairhope cemetery Friday morning. Funeral services at 10 a.m., to be conducted by Rev. J. D. Domer, of Canton. The deceased was nearly seventy-seven years of age. ********************** >From the Canton Repository, Saturday October 23, 1982 Weida (Lesh - daughter of Henry A. Lesh) Mrs. Lucille E. age 87 of 207 High ave NW passed away Friday morning in the Colonial Nursing home from complications following an extended illness. Born in Auburn, In., she had lived practically her entire life in the Canton area and was preceded in death by her husband Millard F. Weida who passed away in 1944. She was a 50 year member of the order of Eastern Stars Chapters 400 and a member of the Caldren drill team. Survivors include two sons, Jack and Tom Weida both of Canton. There are four grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Union Cemetery at Louisville with Rev. Harold L. Davis officiating. There will be no calling hours and the Reed Funeral home is in charge of arraignment.
