EDITOR UNION-HERALD: - Pearl Calvert, son of Henry and Jane Calvert, was born November 22, 1875, near South Perry, Hocking county, and died in the hope of a blessed immortality at his home in Pickaway township February 24, 1907, aged 31 years, three months and two days. September 6, 1900, he was united in holy wedlock with Bertha A. Leist. This union was blessed with two children, Cleo Marvine and Ralph Edson. Under the labors of Rev. John Hobson he was converted and joined the Ebenezer class of the Evangelical association about the year 1893 and became an active member of the Christian Endeavor society, faithfully discharging every Christian duty. In the Sabbath school he served in the capacity of treasurer and was known as a faithful student of God's word. Moving with his parents to another neighborhood he joined the Morris class of the United Brethren church of which he was a faithful member, serving as superintendent of the Sabbath school for two years and as assistant class leader. He was a quiet unassuming young man, always found at his post of duty. In his death the church as lost a loyal defender, the parents a dutiful son, the wife and children a kind husband and loving father and relatives and friends a good brother who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He leaves to mourn his death a loving companion, two children, father and mother, one brother, three sisters and many relatives.
