Death of an Aged Citizen - On Thursday morning last, just before the dawn of day, all that remained mortal of Joseph Riesterer, sen., was quietly hushed in death. The deceased was stricken down a short time ago with a complaint that finally terminated into a severe form of typhoid fever. Everything possible was done to stay the ravages of the disease, but all in vain, the grim messenger called and his summons was obeyed. Mr. Riesterer was a native of Baden, Germany, and had reached the advanced age of 76 years. He had resided in this neighborhood for upwards of 28 years, and at the time of his death resided near the old distillery in this city. He has three grown-up sons, Joseph, Charles and Clement, all prosperous farmers of Mifflin township. The deceased was a quiet, inoffensive citizen, obliging neighbor, kind husband and affectionate father. He was a consistent member of the Catholic Church, and no matter what the condition of the weather was, his place in the sanctuary was seldom ever vacant at the early morning mass. He was a good man, and died in full faith of a blessed Redeemer and immortality of the soul. His funeral took place on Saturday morning, Rev. Father Braschler conducing the services.. ______________________________ ------------------------------ X-Message: #7 Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 14:03:12 -0400 From: "Maggie Stewart" To: OH-FOOTSTEPS-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <11b301bfa961$26e49660$0300a8c0@local.net> Subject: Fw: Golden & Owens to Owens 1829 Hamilton Co.
