SKETCH OF JERRY HALL, DIED JAN. 14 (1909) Following is a sketch of Jeremiah Hall, who has many relatives in Akron: The deceased was a son of John and Anna HALL and was born November 14, 1832, on the old Hall farm near the High church, Doylestown, where nearly his entire life was spent. For only five yeas he was absent from the place of his birth and these were spent within a few miles of the old home shortly after his marriage, when he resided on a farm on the town line road. He was one of a family of 12 children, of whom two sisters and three brothers are still living. Fifty-two years ago he was united in marriage to Marietta BAUER by Rev. D. ROTHACKER at Doylestown. Thirteen children were born to this union-six daughters and seven sons. With the exception of one daughter, Cora, who died at the age of nine years, all are living to mourn the parents. In addition to 12 children, three brothers and two sisters, Mr. Hall leaves 27 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Hall's last illness dates back several years when he became afflicted with gangrene in one of his limbs. Though then over 70 years of age, the limb was amputated and a rugged constitution enabled him to rally from the shock and for several years he enjoyed fairly good health. Eight months ago the dread gangrene manifested itself at other parts of the body, finally causing death. Mr. Hall was aged 76 years and 2 months. Funeral services were held Sunday from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Harry RILEY, at Wadsworth, and the remains were interred in the High church cemetery. Obit. from Akron Beacon Journal, Fri. Jan. 15, 1909. p. 8 c. 3. JERRY HALL DIES AT WADSWORTH (Special to Beacon Journal) Wadsworth, Jan. 15- Jerry HALL after months of suffering on account of gangrene of the foot, died Thursday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hattie Riley on East street, where he had been living most of the time since Mrs. Hall's death on March 13, 1908. Mr. Hall was compelled to have one leg amputated two years ago, and this was followed by the other limb becoming affected with gangrene. He suffered at times greatly, but bore all patiently. Mr. Hall was born in Summit county near Western Star, where he lived practically all his life, following farming as a vocation. He lived to be 76 years of age. He was the father of 12 children, all of whom survive, as follows: John HALL, Wadsworth; Charles HALL, near Wadsworth; Lee, Perry and Ira HALL, Akron; Mrs. Ella BECKWITH Chautauqa, N.Y. ; Mrs. Mary KEWITZ, Cleveland; Mrs. Emma KAIN, Doylestown; (Z?)ene HALL and Mrs. Perry RILEY, Wadsworth. Mr. Hall was a brother of John and Lee HALL, well known in Akron. Jackson HALL of Western Star and Mrs. Lydia BROWN and Mrs. Sarah GRUBE, Akron. Funeral services will be held at the RILEY home Sunday at 9:30 , with burial at the High church, Doylestown. Obit. from Akron Beacon Journal, Fri., Jan. 15, 1909. p.3 c.1.
