Robb in Warren, Ohio. 629 E. 5th Street Salem, Ohio 9/27/46 Dear Cousin Clarence; We are as well as common father is still having some trouble with his left eye but otherwise is ok. I am inclosing a slip showing the birth of all the uncle and aunts as well as grand father and grand mother Robb this list gies your fathers middle name as well as date of birth. Your grand-father and grand-mother were both german your great grand parents on both sides read their german bibles. I think aunt Lydia has the german bible of great grandmother Leonards. I do not know where the bible is that great grand father Robb had. Uncle Johnson that you speak of is Uncle Johnson Leonard your grand-mothers brother that went to California in the gold rush in 1849 he never came back east. He married late in life and lived past 80 years but just how old he was when he died I do not know. Uncle Leonard Robb no children. Great grand father Robb and his two wives are burried in the cemetary north of Berlin Center across from the church and great grand father Leonard and wife are burried west of Berlin Center their names were William and Catherine great grand father Robbs name was Jacob and his two wives Elizabeth and Polly. Elizabeth was his first wife. Jacob Robb died 10/16/84 at the age of 87 yrs 1 mo. and 25 days Elizabeth Robb died 11/2/1854 aged 54 years. 5 mo. and 10 days Polly died 4/5/1871 age 67 yrs. I am of the opinion grand father Robb was born of Jacob and Elizabeth Robb as Polly the second wife was but three years younger than the first wife. William Leonard was born in 1787 died in 1842 age 55 his wife Catherine Leonard was born in 1793 died in 1884 aged 91 at her death her offspring numbered 104. It is quite dry here have not had a rain of any consequence for weeks. Hope you are all well. Many of the mortgages to John Cleves Symmes were levied on at a suit of Gashem Gard vs. John C. Symmes on October 19, 1803; however, some mortgages were assigned to others. Terms followed by Symmes in disposing of his land were that each purchaser was bound to begin improvements within two years or forfeit one-sixth of the land to whomever would settle thereon and remain seven years.
