RAYMOND MENEGAY. Having gone to Davenport, Iowa, about three weeks ago for special treatment for a heart ailment, Dr. Menegay died there last Wednesday evening. His wife had been there several days before his demise. For 39 years he practiced Chiropractic in the Martin Block, Canton. His suburban home, The Acres, is north of Louisville. Besides his widow Grace, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jack Stayer of Greentown; two sisters, Mrs. Wilda Dudley of Louisville and Mrs. Cecelia Leininger of Canton; on brother, Austin of Canton. A life resident of Louisville, he was a member of Elks Lodge, Ohio State Chiropractic Association and a charter member of American Legion Post 548, 40 & 8 and veteran of World War 1. Services were conducted Monday morning at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic church, Harrisburg, by Rev. Fr. Gallagher. Burial in charge of Paquelet Funeral Home was in St. Louis cemetery. MENEGAY, 47, FORMER LEGISLATOR, DIES Robert H. Menegay of N. Chapel St., Louisville, who served a term in the Ohio House of Representatives in 1947 - 48 and last December was appointed acting Postmaster in Louisville, died Thursday night in Mercy Hospital. Mr. Menegay, 47, had been a patient in the hospital since May 30, suffering from a heart ailment. He took over the duties of Postmaster Jan. 1 but was forced to resign several months later due to ill health. Prominent in Democratic circles, Mr. Menegay was serving as Sergeant-at-arms of the Ohio Senate when he was appointed Postmaster. He was a life resident of Louisville and attended Louisville parochial school and Louisville High School. For more than 25 years, Mr. Menegay owned and operated a barber shop in Louisville. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic church, Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, and Louisville Sportsman's Club. While serving in the Ohio legislature, he fostered the strip-mine bill. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marian Menegay; two brothers Raymond A. of Louisville, and Austin F. Menegay of Canton, and two sisters, Mrs. Cecelia Leininger of Canton, and Mrs. Wilda Dudley of Louisville. A Requiem High Mass was sung Monday at 10:00 a. m. in St. Louis Catholic church. Rev. Fr. Paul Dehnke officiated. Burial in the church cemetery. Serving as pall-bearers were L.C. Koehn, E.C. Lair, D.E. Lothamer, Howard D. Neel, H.J. Shoemaker and C.Q. Zahner. He is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter, also the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. Louise Schillig, Miss Virginia Menegay, Mrs. Catherine Lombardi, August and Edward Menegay of Louisville, Joseph Menegay of Chillicothe, Mo.; Sister Nativity of Villa Marie, Pa., Mrs. Charles Monnot of Alliance. Mr. Menegay was born at Louisville, March 31, 1845, making his age 75 years. He was the oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Menegay and one of a family of ten children. Thirty-seven years ago he moved his family to Alliance. He was a faithful employee of the Pennsylvania R. Co and for the past ten years was retired on pension. Mrs. Victoria Monnot, 75, of East Grant St. Alliance, wife of Charles Monnot, died Saturday at midnight in her home after a lingering illness. A native of Louisville, she had lived in Alliance 24 years and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church and the Altar and Rosary societies of the church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. D. C. Mrs. Lombardy was the daughter of John and Victoria Menegay and was born in Louisville where she spent her entire life. Gorgas St., Louisville. She was 95 years old and a life member of St. Louis Catholic church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert Martelet of Canton; two sons, John Schillig of Buffalo and Charles Schillig of Maximo, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Schillig was the widow of Joseph Schillig who died 30 years ago. Funeral services were held this Thursday morning in St. Louis church with the Rev. Fr. Paul Buchholz singing the mass.
