Wells Leon H. Wells, for years a resident of Circleville, died at Washington DC Wednesday morning. =A0The deceased was a son of Mrs. E. E. Winship, was about 36 years of age, and was educated in the public schools of this city. Mrs. Winship went to Washington Tuesday evening. the remains will be brought to Circleville for interment, arriving this evening. =A0Funeral services Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. =A0Mr. Wells was married to Miss Ida Cantner of this city. =A0She and a little daughter of four years survive him. He was a genial, companionable man and his early demise will be lamented by a large circle of friends. 9-2-1892 Death of a Centenarian: ="""""A0Mrs. Catharine Robbins, mother of Mrs. Dr. W. R. Lilly, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Groom, at Columbus, last Friday night after a brief illness. =A0Mrs. Robbins was 100 years of age last February. The deceased was a resident of this city for many years, having but recently gone to Columbus to live with her daughter. =A0She leaves three children--Mrs. W. R. Lilly, of this city; Mrs. Groom of Columbus, and Mrs. Stover of Brooklyn, N. Y. =A0The funeral was held Sunday morning at Columbus and the remains were brought to this city for interment Sunday morning at 9 o'clock and taken immediately to the cemetery. 9-2-1892 CURL--Joseph D. curl, formerly a hardware merchant of this city, died at his home in St. Louis Wednesday, aged about 66 years. =A0He removed from Circleville in 1868, first to Kentucky, then to Iowa, then to Illinois aninally to St. Louis. =A0The ceceased leaves a wife, a son, and three daughters. =A0The funeral took place at St. Louis yesterday. They have furnished rooms at the home of D.W. RADCLIFF. ***** The revival meeting at the New Harmony Baptist church is growing in interest. Rev. FLETCHER is a young man of remarkable ability and impresses all who hear him. He leaves Saturday, but the meetings will continue. All are welcome. ***** The analysis of the stomach of Harry H. BATES, conductor on the Ohio River and Western railroad, whose death occurred at Woodsfield on Sunday, October 22, 1922, indicated, according to the report of State Chemist, C.F. Long, carbolic acid poisoning. ***** John H. PYLES, a former resident of Noble County, died at Youngstown, Ohio, Monday, January 1st, following an illness from heart trouble. He was fifty eight years of age. The body was brought to Crooked Tree where the funeral was held and interment made. ***** Miss KERN, aged seventy-five years, housekeeper for Rev. Father J.H. ______ink, at Fulda, died last Thursday evening following a stroke of apoplexy. The funeral was held from the Fulda Roman Catholic church, Saturday morning and interment was made in the nearby cemetery. ***** At a meeting of the stockholders of the Noble County National Bank yesterday the following board of directors were elected: J.W. FULTON, H.R. McCLINTOCK, J.F. GUILER, C.M. COMBS, John McWILLIAMS, R.P. GUILER and E.L. HUTCHINSON. The board organized by electing John McWILLIAMS, president; A.C. SALTSGAVER, cashier; A.C. OKEY and Julius TRUEX, assistant cashiers. ***** At a meeting of the stockholders of the First National Bank of Summerfield held Tuesday, the following directors were elected: C.R. GIBSON, W.H. PHILPOT, A.A. SUMMERS, John K. ROBINSON, F.M. CALLAND, W.W. McCLINTOCK, and H.R. McCLINTOCK. The board organized by electing C.R. GIBSON, president; W.H. PHILPOT, vice president; A.A. SUMMERS, cashier; G.E. CALLAND, assistant cashier. ***** Miss Jennie SMITH, of Caldwell, is a firm believer that it pays to advertise in The Leader. In last week's issue she read the advertisement of a lost overshoe, and promptly called this officer after reading the advertisement at nine o'clock Wednesday morning to tell us that the overshoe was found by her in front of her home on West Main street. This is another instance proving that an advertisement place in this paper is almost certain to bring results. ***** The good people of our neighboring village of Olive and the immediate community surprised Harry TIDD and family, residing south of Caldwell, on New Year's Day by presenting them with a donation of bed clothing and wearing apparel of various kinds and a large quantity of eatables. The head of the family is a hard working man but his wages are low in the face of the constantly increasing cost of living. This act of charity was a step in the right direction, benevolence being one of the greatest acts of christianity.
