Shilliday, N. Freedom Road, is announcing the marriage of his daughter, Miss Dorothy Mae Shilliday to Guy Allyn Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Cook of Zepher Hills, Florida. The young couple were quietly married at noon on September 11, at Sharon, Pa. The double ring service was used. They were unattended. The bride waas attired in dark blue crep, gray trimmed, with accessories to match. Mrs. Cook is a graduate of the Ravenna Township School of the class of 1922 and since that time has been keeping house for her father. The groom attended the Ravenna City schools before going to Florida about 15 years ago. he has been employed at the Horn's Garage in Ravenna for the past two years. Mr. and Mrs. Cook went from Pennsylvania to Niagra Falls, N.Y. whre they are visiting in the home of Rev. and Mrs. Crofts, friends of the bride's family. Upon their return they will reside at the bride's home on N. Freedom road. This couple later lived in Chardon, Geauga Co. and are buried in the Chardon Cem. Dutter, 65, a director and for many years official of the Elyria Telephone Co., who died at his home today of a coronary thrombosis. Born on a farm at Freedom, near Garrettsville, he came here from Bucyrus in October, 1920, as secretary and treasurer of the Elyria Telephone Co. From 1936 until this spring, he was secretary and general manager. He was also a director of the Lorain County Bank, the Warren Telephone Co., and a director of the Ohio Independent Telephone Association. Was O.N.U. Graduate A graduate of Ohio Northern University in electrical engineering, his first employment wa at Delphos, O., where he was superintendent of the light and power company there. Later he went to Clyde as superintendent of the light and water works there and was also suprintendent of the Peoples Gas & Electric Co. at Defiance, O., going next to Bucyrus, where he was manager of the telephone company there from 1907 until his move to Elyria. While at Bucyrus, he installed the automatic dial system there, one of the first automatic installations in the state. He came to Elyria at the time the automatic system was installed here. He was a 32rd degree Mason and Shriner and also a member of the Knights of Pythias. COOLEY Was Nearly Helpless Invalid For Thirty-Four Years - Funeral Today Harriet Victoria Cooley, widow of the late George S. Cooley, died at her home in southeast Shalersville, Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. She had been an invalid for thirty-four years, paralysis being the origin of her affliction. Funeral services were held this, Monday, afternoon, at the home of Rev. E. R. Romig of the Ravenna M.E. CHurch officiating. She was born in Mesopotamia, Trumbull County, Ohio, May 18, 1844, daughter of John and Sally Ann Avery Barnes and was married to George S. Cooley of Shalersville, March 2, 1862. His death occured in July, 1911. All of their married life waas spent in that vicinity, most of it in the homestead where she died. She is survived by two sons, Byron W. Cooley of Ravenna, and E.G. Cooley, who lives at the homestead. VETERAN SUNDAY Lynds C. Tinker, 90, Sole Survivor of Giddings Post Died Thursday Funeral Services were held Sunday afternoon for Lynds C. Tinker, 90, sole surviving member of Giddings Post, G.A.R., who died at his home late Thursday afternoon, following a lingering illness. Mr. Tinker was a direct descendent of Thomas Tinker of the "Mayflower" colony. Funeral services were conducted from the late home on West Walnut street at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. W. E. Powell, of the Baptist Church officiating. A brief Masonic service was held at the grave. Military rites were conducted at the grave service in Oakdale cemetery. Pall-bearers were members of Baylor Post, American Legion. They were E. W. Elvin, R. M. Blanche, C. S. Case, Fred Chambers, Paul Bliss and James Lively. The deceased ws born in Rome, July 25, 1843 and spent his entire life within 12 miles of his ancestral home. Mr. Tinker was the son of Samuel Tinker, Vlll and Anna Rockwell Tinker. To that union were born six children of which only one, Orlando A. Tinker, 79, of Rome survives. Mr. Tinker's father was born in 1811 and came to Rome, Ashtabula County in 1820 as one of the early settlers of the county. The family has been prominent thrughout the history of the county. Mayflower Descendent A genealogy of the Tinker family published in 1889 traces the family history back to the English ancestry of the early 17th century and contains the family coat of arms. Thomas Tinker, wife and son came to America in the Mayflower in 1620, but died shortly after their arrival. John Tinker was the common ancestor of the Tinker family in America and his name appears frequently in the early records of Massachusetts and Connecticut. He was a trader, importer, soldier, and agent for Governor Winthrop. The name Samuel Tinker appears frequently thrughout the family history. Lynds Tinker Vll, born in 1789 and was the grandfather of the deceased. Mr. Tinker served during the Civil War in the Second Ohio Heavy Artillery. He is the next to the last surviving member of his company. S.D. Barber, Painsville, is the remaining surviver. Postmaster 25 Years Mr. Tinker was united in marriage to Miss Abigail M. Allyn, on September 23, 1866. To this union were born two children, Albert W. of Cleveland, and Luverne M.. Abigail M. Tinker died April 25, 1889 and Luverne M. Tinker died in 1906. Mr. Tinker married Alice Allyn August 12, 1891. To this union was born a daughter, Mildred A. Miller. For several years after the civil war, Mr. Tinker was engaged in farming. Later he moved to Dodgeville where he conducted a general store and served as postmaster for 25 years. Twenty-four years ago last April, Mr. and Mrs. Tinker and family moved to Jefferson. Survivors are his wife, daughter, Mrs. Mildred Miller, Jefferson,, son Albert Tinker, Cleveland, brother, Orlando Tinker, Rome, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The death of Mr. Tinker leaves but two surviving Civil War veterans in Jefferson, Rufus Pangburn and O. J.
