She was the mother of 7 children- 1. Lewis PECKHAM 2. George PECKHAM 3. William Augustus Franklin PECKHAM born 3 Dec 1810 Allegany co., NY 4. Alonzo PECKHAM [twin] 5. Alfonzo PECKHAM [twin] 6. Hester PECKHAM 7. Carrilaine PECKHAM I don't know the order of the children, I only have Wm A.F. PECKHAM'S birth date and place, he was my 2nd gr gf. He is the only one I know about - The unknown grandparents were from Scotland- he was a doctor - they came to America about 1800- just guessing - I have the below data from the memoirs of my gr grand father the son of William Augustus Franklin PECKHAM- "My grandfather Peckham as born near Edinburgh Scotland near the middle of the 18th century and entered the medical university of Edinburgh at the age of 20 after taking a thorough course he graduated with honors and commenced his practice near his former home where he married. shortly he made up his mind to try his luck in America and on his arrival here located near Albany, New York" The children attended such schools as there was at that time. At about 18 years of age, Father [Wm A.F.] entered the Theological University of Albany; At about that time, Grandfather fell from the roof of his barn, and received injuries which caused his death. Grandmother soon moved to Ohio with her family excepting Father who stayed at his school [Theological University of Albany] graduating in 1834. " We have written Scotland, and can find NO record of him - That is all I know of this family - I am hoping perhaps that one of you will recognize some of these names and be able to shed some light on my family. Thank you very much Wilma Fleming Haynes gencon@harborside.com ______________________________ ------------------------------ X-Message: #3 Date: Fri, 18 May 2001 07:30:51 -0400 From: "JEFFREY PUGH" To: OH-FOOTSTEPS-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <003401c0df8d$fefdc2c0$28228fd1@jlpugh> Subject: Bright family name, Miami Valley area, antique family sheets- Please help me find descendants to give them to! Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" I found these is a scapbook I purchased at a garage sale in West Alexandia, Preble Co., OH. However, I bought it from a profesional garage sale operator, and she did not remember where it was purchased. The articles in the scrapbook, which I will also be posting, are newer (20's to 40's) whereas these pages are quite old. The newspaper clippings in the book are generally from Dayton, Brookville, New Lebanon, and Farmersville, as well as some others. I'd really like to turn them over to anyone who can prove a direct descendant! (and I will be pleased to make copies for any interested party) Some of the scrapbook articles I will soon submit relate directly (I would think) to the Bright and Beery family names. So stay tuned... : ) This is the information provided on 2 sheets of very old looking paper, printed sheets labeld "Family Record". The sheets are also broken up into the sections "Births", "Deaths" and "Marriges". The entries are hand-written in a very beautiful script. I'll start with the births: George W. Bright Born January 1st AD 1809 Mary Bright (unclear word, but she is mos likely his 1st wife) of Geo W Bright born March 11th AD 1816 Francis Bright, Daughter of George and Mary Bright born December 21st AD 1834 Elizabeth Bright Daughter of George and Mary Bright born August 4th AD1836 Sally Bright Daughter of George and Mary Bright born November 12th AD 1838 Christian Bright, Son of Goerge and Mary Bright Born February 5th AD 1842 Mahala Bright Daughter of George and Mary Bright born December 1st AD 1843 ( I assume these last 3 children were born of the 2nd wife of George, also a Mary) Mary Bright, Daughter of Geo and Mary Bright Born August 22nd 1853 Kathrine Bright Daughter of Geo and Mary Bright born April 7th 1855 Effe Bright, daughter of Geo and Mary Bright was born January 23rd AD 1862 Then the Marriges: Geo.
