Myrtle, although born in Adams Co., lived almost all of her life in the South Salem community in Ross County, Ohio. She was called "Mert", b= ut her full birth name was Provy Myrtle Cokonougher. " Obituary. Myrtle Storts, daughter of Zachariah and Mary Wisecup Cokonougher was born in Adams County, Ohio, January 12, 1877, and was called from her sleep to her Heavenly Home on Friday night December 5, 1947 aged seventy years, ten months and twenty-three days. Fifty three years ago, on November 14, 1894, she was married to Ira Storts who preceeded her in death December 20, 1926. To this marriage were born nine children, four of whom, three sons, Lawrence, Clair, and Roy, and one daughter, Mrs. Grace Storts Mootispaw, also have preceded her. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Iris Keplinger of Greenfield, Mrs. Esther Leach of Leesburg, and three sons, Ray of Lyndon, Ralph of Zanesville, and Ernest of Leesburg. She is also survived by four brothers, William Cokonougher of Clarksburg, Joe of Bainbridge, John of Lyndon, Harvey of Greenfield and one sister, Mrs. John Schmidt, of South Salem. Mrs. Storts was affiliated with the South Salem Presbyterian church and was a member of the Sunday School and Women's Missionary Society, and was faithful in attendance so long as health permitted. She was primarily a home-loving woman, a devoted wife and mother and after her widowhood her life was wrapped up in the life of her children; their interests were her interests, and their success her greatest joy. In failing health for several years she lived in an apartment in the village; she visited very frequently with her children but preferred to keep her own little home to which they came often and looked after her welfare and gave her loving care and devotion. During the long tedious years of illness she did not complain; she met the sorrows of life with patient resignation and Christian fortitude. She was a kind and sympathetic neighbor and interested in those about her, but the time of parting had come and she fell asleep to awake in a land where sickness and sorrow never come. We look beyond the shadows, The tears, the vacant chair, Into that bright hereafter That she has gone to share. We look beyond the shadows, And through the open door, Where sorrows are forgotten, And parting comes no more. ---------------- CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank our friends who were so kind to us during the loss of our mother, Mrs. Myrtle Storts, the ones who gave floral tributes and Rev. J. W. Robb, Mrs. Maude S. Rea, and the Strueve funeral home.
