Mrs. Alta Mae Harkins, 84, South Salem, died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday in the Looney Nursing Home, Bainbridge. The daughter of Christopher and Belle Morgan Betts, she was born July 9, 1887 in Allensville. She was married to Joseph Harkins who died March 24, 1957. Surviving are a son, Eugene Harkins of Athens; three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Grace) Cummings of Leesburg, Rt. 1, Mrs. Lester (Alice) Case of Lyndon Rt. 1, and Mrs. Henry (Margaret) Smith of South Salem; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Alva Emery of Greenfield and Mrs. Clarence Cox of South Salem. She was predeceased by a son, Floyd, and one brother. Mrs. Harkins was a member of the South Salem Methodist Church and its Womens Society of Christian Service. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Webster and Rev. Donald Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in South Salem Cemetery. Wilson, 85, of 1105 Washington av, Washington C.H., died 1:28 a.m. Sunday in Browns Hospital at the Dayton V.A. Center, where he had been a patient 10 days. He had been in failing health for several years. Born in Ross County Nov. 25, 1895, he was the son of James and Addie Hester Wilson. Mr. Wilson lived most of his life in Washington C.H., where he was a retired shoe repairman. He was a member of the Sugar Grove U. Methodist Church and a charter and life member of VFW Post 4964 in Washington C.H. A World War I Army veteran, Mr. Wilson was a member of the 42nd Rainbow Division and was the recipient of a purple heart. Wilby Clouser, 68, of 3669 Ohio 28-E, Greenfield, died unexpectedly at 8:17 p.m. Friday, May 13, 1988 in the Greenfield Area Medical Center. Born Jan. 18, 1920 in Buckskin Township, he was the son of Frank and Amanda Storts Clouser. Mr. Clouser retired from the U.S. Shoe Corporation in 1982 after 38 years. He was a partner with his wife in the Times Square Jewelry and Antique Store. Mr. Clouser was a member of the Pisgah-Mt. Pleasant Federated Church and the Greenfield Lodge No. 318 F&AM. He was a 1938 graduate of Buckskin High School and attended Ohio University. Mr. Clouser studied watchmaking at the Chicago School of Watchmakers, from where he graduated in 1961. On Dec. 22, 1941, he married the former Virginia Hibbs, who survives. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ervin (Majorie) Dove of New Martinsburg; a brother, Heber, of New Martinsburg. He was preceded by his twin brother, Wilbur, on Dec. 31, 1987, three brothers, Carse, Charles and Carl; two infant brothers and a sister, Maude. Fehring, 70, of 248 Woodland Dr., Hillsboro, died Friday, May 13, 1988 in Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. Born March 20, 1917 in Cincinnati, he was the son of Edward A. and Lorna Lillis Fehring. Mr. Fehring was a safety consultant for the State of Ohio Industrial Commission. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hillsboro, former parish council member and a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society in St. Martin Deanery. He was a former Hillsboro city council member and belonged to the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Mr. Fehring was a former Hillsboro Elks Club trustee and was treasurer of the Hillsboro High School Athletic Boosters and was founder and first president of the Hillsboro Jaycees. He was a World War II veteran and played pro football with the original Cincinnati Bengals. Mr. Fehring was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, Cincinnati and attended the University of Arizona and University of Cincinnati. He played baseball and football in high school, college and semi professionally. He is survived by his wife, Norma, three sons, Edward A. (Gip) Fehring and Chris Fehring, both of Cincinnati, and Marc Fehring of Modesto, Calif.; two daughters, Deborah Robbins of West Bloomfield, Mich. and Ann Wilburn of Cincinnati; this mother, Lorna Trapp, of Cincinnati; a brother, Patrick J. Fehring of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Kim.
