ONE DRIVER DRAWS FINE FOR INTOXICATION. Two three car accidents, one of which brought a driving when drunk charge, and a couple of routine intoxication cases, occupied police attention over the weekend and developed into a series of Mayor's court hearings which were continuing this afternoon. Police were within hearing distance of the first accident which occurred Sunday at 3 a.m. in the 1000 block of Jefferson st. Patrolmen Kenneth George and Sam McCullough were in the Drive Inn restaurant at 1006 Jefferson st. when they reported following investigation. Wayne Riehle, 28; Lyndon Rt. 1, driving west, crashed into the rear end of a westbound car driven by Howard Cokonougher; Lyndon. Cokonougher's car was shoved into the restaurant driveway and collided with the parked auto of George Ferris, Wilmington. Meanwhile, the car operated by Riehle continued along Jefferson st. and came to a stop near Trico elevator. The officers went to it and found Riehle 'passed out' at the driver's wheel, and two passengers, William Rayburn, Frankfort Rt. 2, and Virginia Ruth Knapp, 19, Lyndon Rt. 1, 'both intoxicated.' The two men were taken by Murrays (???) to (???) and Miss Knapp in the police cruiser to Greenfield Municipal Hospital. The hospital reported Riehle was treated for abrasions of the right knee, forehead and left wrist, and slight concussion of the brain, and Miss Knapp for knee abrasions. Police held Riehle in the hospital until Sunday afternoon, then removed him to jail, sent Miss Knapp home pending hearing, and took Rayburn to jail. At hearings before Mayor Dwight R. Parrett this forenoon, Miss Knapp entered a plea of innocent of intoxication and hearing was continued until this afternoon; Rayburn pleaded guilty of intoxication and was fined $10 and costs, to be paid, and Riehle entered a plea of guilty of driving when drunk and was fined $100 and costs, not paid. Cokonougher's car, a 1935 Ford, and the 1936 Dodge coupe driven by Riehle and owned by Rayburn were towed to the H. W. Elliott & Son garage. The Ferris car had damage to the right rear fender." ....... ********************************************************* _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ______________________________ ------=_NextPart_000_04F4_01C152C1.96B9A880 Content-Type: message/rfc822; name="Serviceman Readjustment allowance_ Howard Cokonougher, WW II, Ross Co..eml" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="Serviceman Readjustment allowance_ Howard Cokonougher, WW II, Ross Co..eml" X-Message: #2 Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2001 01:02:05 +0000 From: "Ralph W.
