William Hudson Killed by Street Car.
From the fracture of a skull, sustained when he was struck by a street care
at High and Gates streets, in Columbus, Saturday night, William Hudson,
blind, age 58, a former residence of Circleville, died Monday at Mercy
hospital. He had been making his way home with a niece, Mrs. James M. Gray,
1284 South High Street, and sister, Mrs. Sarah Beavers, is also resident of
Columbus.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o
'clock at the residence of his niece, and the remains were brought to
Circleville for burial.

Downing
Miss Ursula Downing died Friday morning Aug 9, at the home of her
parents near Commercial Point, of anemia, aged 17 years. Deceased was the
daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. A. Downing, who reside on the Marvin Stonerock farm
in Scioto township. the remains were taken to Williamsport Saturday
afternoon and interred in Springlawn Cemetery

GENERAL JOHN C. BLACK DIES
CHICAGO, Aug 17, General John C. Black, Civil War Veteran, former
Congressman and former United States Commissioner of Pensions, died suddenly
today in his rooms at a hotel. General Black was a member of the United
States Civil Service Commission. He enlisted at the outbreak of Civil War as
a private and was breveted Brigadier General in April, 1865, for "Gallant
services in assault Fort Blakely, Alabama. He was Commander-in-Chief of the
G.A.R. in 1903.

BENSENHAVER
Mrs. Elizabeth Bainter Bensenhaver died, Friday evening at 7:20 o'clock,
at the home of her son, John Bensenhaver, on the David Ludwig farm. Death
was due to goiter.
Mrs. Bensenhaver was born in Hocking County, near Logan, January 20,
1843. She was the widow of Daivd Bensenhaver, who died in June 1914.
The family moved from Hocking County five years ago. Three sons John
and Andrew Bensenhaver, of near this city, and Curtis Benshaver, of Tarlton,
survive the mother.
Mrs. Bensenhaver was a member of the United Brethren church.
The funeral services were held at the Hopewell church in Fairfield
County, Monday morning at 10 o'clock.

George W. Kinney Died at home of Son-inLaw at Milford Center.
Was Civil War Veteran and Conducted a Sewing Machine Shop in This City
for Number of Years--Body Brought Here for Burial.
The remain of George W. Kinney, who died at Milford Center, Wednesday
will be brought to this city this evening at 5:30 o'clock and will be taken
in charge by the Albaught Undertaking company.
Mr. and Mrs. Kinney left here last November for Milford Center where they
were called by the illness of their son-in-law, Daniel Miller, who underwent
an operation.
Mr. Kinney recently suffered from a severe cold which developed into
pneumonia and caused his death.
The deceased was a veteran of Company A, 18th U.S. Infantry. He resided
on West Ohio Street, this city, where he conducted a machine shop, doing work
on sewing machines.
The deceased is survived by his wife, one son, and two daughters: Will
Kinney, Mrs. Clara Kinney Thomas of this city, and Mrs. Daniel Miller, of
Milford Center.
The funeral services were held from his late home in this city, Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. David McDonald officiated. Interment in Forest
Cemetery. Members of the American Legion acted as pallbearers.
This appeared in a Circleville paper, dated Feb 7, 1923.

Mrs. Dora Kinney died at her residence on Clinton street Sunday morning at 3
o'clock of dropsy, in her 47th year. She was a daughter of Henry and
Catharine (Hart) Mills and was born in Hocking County, on October 6, 1868.
She is survived by her husband. The funeral services were held from the
Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Mr. Ferguson
officiating. Interment in Forest cemetery.

OCTOGENARIAN
Mrs. Christena Ebert Died Wednesday Morning in Her 88th Year.
Mrs. Christena Ebert died yesterday morning at her home in Circleville
township following a seven month illness. Her death was due to senility.
The deceased was the widow of Lorenz Ebert to whom she was married September
25, 1859.
Mrs. Ebert was born in Tuchfelden, Baden, Germany August 18, 1835. she came
to this country when she was twenty years of age.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters; Fred J. Ebert of this city; D.
H. Ebert of Ashville; Mrs. Edward Crist and Miss Mattie Evert of this city.
She was a member of the Lutheran church. The funeral services will be held
at the Trinity Lutheran church. Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Rev. G. J.
Troutman will officiate. Interment in Forest cemetery.

MELVIN ... from a Circleville paper 1898
Susan Basin was born in Orange Co. North Carolina, January 22, 1828, and died
June 27, 1898, aged 70 years 5 months, and 5 days. The deceased was married
to George Melvin, August 27, 1848. This union was blessed with nine children
and twenty-one grandchildren. She leaves to mourn their loss an aged husband
and six children, namely James, George, Henry and Jennie Melvin and Mrs. Mary
Allen of Crandall, Kansas, and John Melvin of Delaware County, Indiana who
were called to the deathbed of their loving mother. Mrs. Melvin was a loving
mother, and left a number of sympathyizing friends.

DIED IN KANSAS
Mrs. B. Frank Smith Passed Away in Her Seventy-seventh Year.
Mrs. Phoebe Josephine Smith, wife of B. Frank Smith, died at her home in
Lawrence Kansas, January 25, 1923, near her seventy-seventh birthday
anniversary.
The deceased was three times married. She was married to her first husband,
John Hause, in 1879, and he died two years later. In 1878 she was married to
Charles Blackmore, of Washington C. H. Following is death, she made her home
in New Holland with her brother, William L. Mallow. In 1890 she was married
to B. Frank Smith in Lawrence Kansas.
The deceased was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Mallow and was born on a
farm near Austin, Ross County. One sister, Mrs. M. J. Clifton of Washington
C. H. and one brother, John Mallow of Austin, and her husband survive.
It looks like the article is cut off before it's end, and appears to be from
a Feb 7 or 8th newspaper, in 1923.
