Assume it probably to be a Circleville paper. The newspaper date of Feb 15-1923 appears to be the date they were all listed; though clearly the actually dates of death vary. FREDERICK WILLIAM ADOLPH VIETH was born in Obernakirchen Prussia, Germany, September 29, 1845. He was the son of John H. F. and Sophia Sander Vieth. He came to this country in 1864 and to this city a year later. He married Miss Mary Strong Kellstadt, August 19, 1866 and she died June 3, 1919. Six children were born of that union, three of whom survive. They are: Wealtha Ella, wife of Judge L. N. Abernethy of this city; Mary Emma wife of L. F. BeVier of Columbus and Minnie Lillian wife of Rev. Joseph Sittler of Lancaster. Thirteen grandchildren also survive. Of all his immediate family one brother and one sister survive. They are Mrs. Emma Korff, of Karlshuff, Germany and Ludwig Vieth of Berlin, Germany. Mr. Vieth was a Mason of rank. Interment in Forest Cemetery Monday last, Rev. Mrs. Julia Dumm, wife of Nelson Dumm died Sunday evening September 5, at 5:30 o'clock at her home in Leistville, of heart trouble. She was 75 years old and had been an invalid seventeen years. Mrs. Dumm was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Anderson, of Saltcreek township. Besides her husband she leaves three sons: George Dumm of near this city, James and Wilson Dumm at home and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Davis of Leistville. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Trinity Evangelical church near Leistville. Interment was in the Imler cemetery. (Sept. 4 is written in by the article, perhaps this is meant to be a correction of the typed date of Sept. 5 by the paper??) - -------------------------- DECOMPOSED BODY FOUND IN A BARN JAMES MASON The body of James Mason, an old colored resident of Frankfort, was found lying in a stall in a barn int he rear of his home. The discovery was made Thursday morning by Abraham Stookey, who was attracted to the barn by the unpleasant odor. The last seen of Mason prior to the time of the discovery of his body in the barn was Monday morning. It is supposed that he entered the barn Monday evening to sleep for the night in the hay loft, as he was accustomed to do. As he was known to be afflicted with heart trouble, it is thought that he was attached with a spell of this when entering the barn and that he died shortly afterwards. Mason was 65 years of age and had made his home in Frankfort for a number of years. He had been twice married, but at the time of his death he was not living with either of his wives, who are both living. (September 2 is hand written which I assume to be the d.o.d. based on what else is on the page. ---------------------- ZACHARIAH BREWER Formerly of Circleville, died in Columbus of Cancer--Buried With Masonic Honors Zachariah Brewer, formerly of Circleville, died Monday at the residence of C. H. Kean, 49*1 South Third Street Columbus, after an 18 months' illness. Mr. Brewer came to this city from Washington D. C. in 1867, and was employed by the late O. E. Niles where he raised broom corn. He remained with Mr. Niles twenty-five years and was his clerk in the coal office until he left for Columbus in 1890. In recent years he was a traveling salesman for the New Pittsburg Coal Company. Always a warm friend of the Niles family, Mr. C. H. Niles was with him when he died. Mr. Brewer was 64 years old. Mr. Brewer married Margaret Wilson of South Bloomfield, who died 19 years ago. He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Harriet Livingston of Columbus, and Mrs. Homer Sterling of East Liberty, and two sons; John and Fred Brewer of Cleveland. FARMER FOUND DIED IN FIELD Last Thursday, Charles Myers, a wellknown farmer of near Jeffersonville, was found dead in a field near the home. He had been hauling fodder and went out for another load. About dinner time his wife discovered the team standing neasr the barn gate, but she was unable to find Mr. Myers. A search was instituted for the farmer and about 3 o'clock his dead body was found in the field. He had been subject to heart trouble and it is believed death was the result of an attack. He was 54 years of age and leaves a widow and several grown children. Mrs. Alvin Pierce, of Stokes township, is one of his daughters. By The Telegram's correspondent Coalton--Mrs. John Gentil, mother of Harry Gentil, first Coalton soldier to die int he World War, succumbed to a stroke of paralysis at her home Thursday night at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Gentil, whose maiden name was Catherine Freemont was the mother also of Mrs. Char. Hunter of south Wellston. She was well-known here. First stricken about 11 years ago, Mrs. Gentil had another stroke and three weeks, before her death had another stroke. She was a woman of strong constitution and was almost 70 years of age. Mrs. Gentil was born at Hamden Furnace, now Puritan east of Hamden, on Oct. 29, 1856, a daughter of Nicholas and Caroline Fremont. Her father worked for the old charcoal furnaces of Lawrence and Jackson counties. She and her husband came to Coalton in 1883 at the beginning of the village. He died Sept 29, 1932. Surviving her are the following sons, and daughters: Leonard and Clarence Gentil of Coalton, Mrs. Charles Hunter of Wellston, Charles Gentil, Mrs. Margaret Farley and Mrs. Ernest Paulson of Columbus. Two brothers are living. George Fremont of Marion and Chris Fremont of Portsmouth. Her son, Harry Gentil was killed by a shell in France as his regiment was moving up to the front line trenches. Later his body was brought back from overseas for burial in Coalton. The funeral was held at the M. E. church of which Mrs. Gentil had been a member for many years. Rev. Oscar Maerker conducted the service. Burial was in Coalton cemetery beside her late husband.
