SCHOOL HONORS DIVIDED
New Holland high school senior class honors are divided, a girl winning the
valedictorian and boy gaining the salutatorian roles. Dorothy Wright,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ercel Wright, is valedictorian and John Louis, son
of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Louis is salutatorian. The commencement will be May 18
with Joseph Richter, of Miami university as the speaker.

ALBERT SOWERS DIES SUDDENLY AT AGE OF 35
Albert Cecil Sowers, 35, died suddenly Sunday at his home, 213 W. High
Street, angina pectoris proving fatal.
Mr. Sowers was ill when he returned to his home early Sunday from his work
as night watchman at the Groce packing plant, W. High St. He died about 10
o'clock. Coroner C. E. Bowers announced the death cause.
Mr. Sowers was born Feb. 9, 1904, Chillicothe, a son of Casius F. and Emma
Betz, and stepfather, John Betz, of Circleville, and five brothers, Kenneth,
Frank, Marvin, and Donald; all of Circleville and Maynard of Harrisburg, Pa.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev.
George L. Troutman, officiating. Burial was in Forest cemetery in charge of
M. S. Rinehart.

MRS. MARTHA ANN BRYANT
Rev. Mr. Johns, of London, assisted by Rev. W. C. Allen, conducted the
funeral services for Mrs. Martha Ann Bryant held Wednesday afternoon at two
o'clock at the A.M.E. church.
The choir sang the hymns "Nearer My God To Thee," "Fade, Fade Each Earthly
Joy,", "Safe In The Arms of Jesus", and "Abide With Me."
Mrs. Effie Ross read the obituary. Interment was made in the Washington
cemetery. The pallbearers were, Richard Rickman, William Howard, Lindsey
Cash, Jack Taylor, Joe Tapsico and George White.
Hughey and Parrett were in charge.

Hold Military Rites for Pvt. McClellan
Military services were conducted Friday afternoon for Private Donald M.
McAllen at the Lute Funeral Home, the Reverend Hunsdon Cary, Jr. officiating,
in conjunction with Commodore Denig Post N. 83, American Legion. Burial was
in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers, all members of the Legion, were John P. LaFene, Milton W.
Bechberger, Welby Wiedeman, Frank Silvani, Lloyd Lippus, and Reinhardt,
Assume, Marc Freeman, Leroy Wagner, Eugene E. Jarrett and Dale Keller, color
bearers and color, guards and Charles David of Sandusky High school, burler.
Private McClellan was killed in military action on Okinawa May 23, 1945.

WALTER BRANT
BERLIN HEIGHTS, Walter D. Brant 73, rural Berlin Heights, died last night at
Providence Hospital, Sandusky.
He was born in Columbus, March 24, 1889, and had lived in this area
practically all his life.
Survivors include his widow Laura; five sons, Walter, Milan; Vernon Sandusky;
Leonard, Gerald Douglas all at home; four daughters, Mrs. Albert Schenk,
Huron; Mrs. Harold Schenk, Mrs. Albert Tigges, and Mrs. Eugene Milner,
Sandusky; a brother, Alfred, Berlin Heights; a half-brother, Frank Fallon,
Sandusky; 42 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.
Friends may call after 7 pm today at the Hinman Funeral Home where funeral
services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, with the Rev. Theodore Stelhorn
officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

MRS. KATE KUHL
MILAN--Mrs. Kate T. Kuhl 84, Huron-Avery Road, died Wednesday at her
residence following a lengthy illness.
A lifelong resident of Milan township, she had been a member of the Huron
Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harry; a son, Theodore M of Milan, a daughter,
Miss Marjorie Kuhl Mill Valley Calif; four grandchildren, two great
grandchildren; and one sister, Miss Helen Turner of Norwalk.
Friends may call after 2 pm today at the Rawie Funeral Home where services
will be held at 2 pm Friday with the Rev. George Bell officiating. Burial
will be in Scott Cemetery.

OSBERT W. HUDNELL
Osbert W. Hudnell, 76, of 176 Rose St, Lexington, Kentucky died unexpectedly
at the residence at 7 a.m. Monday.
Born in Ross County on June 15, 1878, he was a son of John and Mary Swarts
Hudnell. In November 1904, he married Essie Campbell, who survives. He was
a member of the Presbyterian Church at Lexington, and the Masonic Blue
Lodge, Chapter and Council of Columbus.
Mr. Hudnell formerly operated a music store in Columbus, and was associated
with a music company in Lexington.
Also surviving are a daughter, Miss Thelma at home; three sisters, Mrs. Alta
Harrignton, Miss Edith and Miss Rosa Hudnell, all of this city; and a nice,
Mrs. John Bochard of Chillicothe. A brother, Edward R. predeceased him.
Service will be at the Facwett Funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev.
Fred Knickrehm officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Friends
may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m Tuesday.

INFANT CALAIN
Stephen Lewis Calain, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack L. Calain of 23 1/2
bridge St. died at 6:35 a.m. Monday at Chillicothe Hospital. He was born at
12:22 a.m. Monday.
In addition tot he parents he is survived by the grandparents Mr. and Mrs. H.
M. Calain of Elkins, W. Va, and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Gregory of Clarksburg, W.
Va.
Committal service was held at Greenlawn cemetery Tuesday morning by the
Fawcett Funeral Home.

MRS. CLINTON GRAVES
Mrs. Lillian Igo Graves, 54, died at 9:10 p.m. Monday at her home on Route 2.
She had been ill since September.
Born near Hillsboro, she is survived by her husband, Clinton F. Graves; a
brother, Wendell Igo of near Hillsboro, and a half brother Charles Igo of
Hillsboro. Mrs. Graves was a member of the Church of Crist at Sugar Tree
Ridge near Hillsboro.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Evans & Toll Funeral Home,
Hillsboro, the Rev. Shirley Barrows officiating. Burial will be in Sugar
Tree Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Bloomington Man Dies of Injury

The article is not complete, as my page ended, but it still maybe of some

Delbert Skidmore, 24 resident of Clinton county, is being held in the jail in
that county, the result of an alleged domestic quarrel in which John
Shattuck, aged 50, who resides near Bloomington, a few miles below Sabina,
was injured fatally.
Shattuck died in Hale Hospital Wednesday morning at 8:10 o'clock of head
injuries which included a probable fracture of the skull. Skidmore, who is a
brother-in-law of Shattuck, probably will be arraigned on a second degree
murder charge.
According to the story of the quarrel told Sheriff Gus Miller and Deputy
Sheriff Frank Setty, Clinton county officers Tuesday night, Shattuck

BERLIN HEIGHTS, Feb 18 Mrs. Mary Fallon, 88, a former resident of Berlin
Heights, died Thursday in Providence Hospital Sandusky. Born in Grove City,
O Mrs. Fallon lived here for a time with her son, the late Edward Brandt.
Surviving are four sons, Walter Brandt, Berlin Heights: Alfred Brandt, Huron

MONROEVILLE, Feb 18--Charles Thomas Hillson, 62, well known barber here for
the past 46 years, died, Thursday at his home on S. Main St. of a heart
attack. He was born in Monroeville, June 4, 1886 and spent his life here.
Surviving are his widow, Clara; three sons, Melvin, Rapid City S. D.,
Gilbert, Lorain, and James a student at Bowling Green State University; one
daughter, Mrs. Frances Thielen, Toledo; four grandchildren; one brother,
Albert, Norwalk and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Shepard and Mrs. Mable West,
both Crestline.
The body is at the Edward J. Gross Funeral Home where friends may call after
7 p.m. today and where the Rosary will be recited at 8 pm Sunday by the Holy
