G. ANDERSON Dies, Aged 86 Thomas G. ANDERSON, 86. a veteran of the Civil War under General William T. SHERMAN, died at his home in Peoria, O., Friday night from senility. He was born at Rushville, O., and attended school there under the Rev. Benjamin Russell HANBY,who wrote "My Darling Nellie Gray," a famous campaign song of the Union Army. Mr. ANDERSON ran away from home to join the amy at the age of 16. At the Lancaster recruiting office he was refused admission in the ranks. The youth, determined to follow the footsteps of his uncle, Major ANDERSON, who was in charge at Fort Sumpter, found an army physician who was wiling to approve his enlistment. Meanwhile, his father, the late William ANDERSON, friend of General SHERMAN, communicated with the general and young ANDERSON was placed in his regiment. After the war Mr. ANDERSON came to Columbus, and for 40 years engaged in the general constructing business here. He was a former official in the Capital Lodge of the Odd Fellows and the oldest member in that organization, having belonged more than 65 years. He also was a past president of the old St. Clair Distinct Public School Board, having served in that capacity for 12 years. At the age of 65, he retired and moved to Peoria to live on a farm. When 82, Mr. ANDERSON built the house in which he died and in which his funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. He is survived by 2 daughters and 4 sons. Burial will be at Raymond, O. LANE Jr., 215 Lexington Ave, Saturday following a stroke of apoplexy suffered last week. Mr. LANE formerly was a partner of the late J. W. ADAMS. Their firm ADAMS & LANE, was founded in 1890. Several years later they dissolved partnership and each continued in business under his own name. Mr. LANE, retired for the last several years, was a member of St. Mark's Lodge of Masons and the Knights of Pythias. Funeral services will be held in the Mrs. A. D. Whittaker & Son mortuary.
