Grandle, who has always been a gentlemen in his contact here, was angry at this untrue and unprovoked assault, as he put it, and waded into Wolfe with a choice line of talk which resulted in Wolfe telling him he had yellow in him, whereupon Grandle invited Wolfe outside so he could demonstrate the quality of yellow. Marks lives on South Hickory Street. He came home early in the evening and stared trouble with his family. Mrs. Mack called the police station and asked that an officer be sent for her husband. When Williams arrived there he found Marks in front of his home arguing with Harry West, who lives near him. He had his hand in his pocket and when searched by Williams a revolver was found on him which was loaded. James Reed, former saloon man of this city, and Mrs. Gertrude Smith his one-time partner in the business are the principal characters in an elopement, the details of which were learned Saturday morning. Reed had a wife and three children, all grown. Mrs. Reed, who seems a pleasant, industrious woman, lives with her three daughters, on Plum street. When interviewed by a Gazette representative, Mrs. Reed very agreeably told all she knew of the affair. It appears that Reed and the Smith woman, whose husband died something like a year ago, have been in partnership in the saloon business ever since.
