Martin and Margaret Murray McCauley Martin, was born September5th, 1854, near Hillsboro, Ohio. When a young man, he spent three years with is uncle Julius Martin in Kentucky, two years with Mrs. Craven Silcott near Seaman, Ohio, and from 1876 to 1880 with his brother Robert, in Iowa and Missouri. On September 20, 1881 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Roberts, who died July 10, 1889. To this union three children were born, Mrs. Edna Martin Vane, Mrs. Martin Cline, and Earl F. Martin. On April 2, 1903 he was married to Miss Mary E. McClure of near Seaman, Ohio. To this union no children were born, but they reared to young manhood Henry Philip Armstrong, a nephew of Mrs. Martin who has been a member of this family ever since. In 1875 he united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Pike Chapel, Ohio. He lived near this chapel for nearly two years and was a faithful member. He moved from this vicinity, he has always had a friendly relation with the local M. E. church, but never moved his church letter to any other church. On March 30, he took a severe cold which developed into pneumonia and caused his death, April 5, 1918, age 63 years and seven months. He is survived by the widow, three sisters, one brother, two daughters, one son and seven grandchildren. He has been a resident of this neighborhood for more than twenty years. Armstrong of Camp Sheridan, Ala; Robert M. Martin, Newton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Holladay, Miss Carrie Holladay, Messrs.
