Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Democrat and Watchman March 5, 1918 Circleville, Ohio ARMSTRONG, CLARK, FIELDS, DELONG, DUNKEL, HUMMEL, REIGEL, STROUSE, STUMPF Mary DELONG, daughter of William and Elizabeth STUMPF, was born on January 6, 1839, at the old homestead, near STUMPF's church, in Saltcreek Township, Pickaway County, Ohio, and departed this life at the home of Samuel REIGEL at Griffin, Ga., on February 28, 1918, aged 79 years, 1 month and 26 days. She was both baptized and confirmed in the Jerusalem Reform church, at STUMPF's by Rev. KING; upon her removal to the state of Georgia, she transferred her membership to the Methodist Protestant church at Pomona; this change being made owing to there being no Reform church in that immediate vicinity. She remained faithful and consistent to her religious vow until the end. On occasion, she united in the holy bonds of matrimony with John DELONG. This union was blessed with four children; those surviving the mother are Sarah A., wife of Lawrence JINKS, of Adelphi, Ohio, and Charles of Saltcreek Township, Pickaway County, O. Those preceding her in death were George, who died in infancy and Caroline, who died in November 1901. Mrs. DELONG was a member of a family of seven children; the brothers being Charles, William, Oliver and Alfred STUMPF and the sisters were Julia A., wife of a Mr. CLARK, of Williams County, Ohio and Caroline, wife of John G. DUNKEL, of Saltcreek Township, Pickaway County, Ohio; all of whom have passed from time into eternity. She has lived in the Samuel REIGEL home for the past 44 years, moving with the family from Ohio to Georgia about 34 years ago. Her last visit to her children and Ohio friends was made about eight years ago. Since the death of Mrs. REIGEL, which occurred many years ago, she has been a mother to all the children in the REIGEL home and though all have grown to maturity, they mourn loss as that of a mother. Those left to mourn her loss are one son, one daughter, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Her health until only a few months ago was exceptionally good but cancer developed, confining her to her bed during the past two months until relieved by death on last Thursday night. Kindly in disposition, charitable in spirit, appreciative of all kindnesses and ever mindful of her duties to God and to mankind, may truthfully be written in her epitaph. "O, what a glory doth this world put on for him who, with a fervent heart, goes forth under the bright and glorious sky, and looks on duties well performed, and days well spent." The body, accompanied with Mr. Mark REIGEL, arrived at Circleville, over the Pennsylvania Lines, Saturday evening at 6:40 and was removed by Director DEFENBAUGH of Tarlton, to the home of her son, Charles, near Leistville, where it lay in state. The funeral was held from the Jerusalem Reform church, at STUMPF's, Rev. J. R. FIELDS of the Adelphi M. E. church officiated and burial on the family lot, at Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi, Ohio. The pall was carried by the cousins; A. L. STROUSE, of Laurelville, William A. STROUSE, Jr., Charles L. ARMSTRONG, O. B. ARMSTRONG, George II ARMSTRONG all of near Adelphi and J. D. HUMMEL, of near Circleville.
