Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Democrat & Watchman March 21, 1918 Circleville, Ohio ATER, BAKER, HORNBECK, HOSKINS, MCPHERSON, REYNOLDS, ROSE, SHELDON, TARBILL, VOSS Gone To Reward (The Father of Ten Children) William Colston ATER Another of the pioneers of Pickaway county has been called to his rest and reward. For a long lifetime the subject of this sketch was well and favorably known by neighbors and acquaintances of the west side. He belonged to that old school of citizens and Democrats whose personality impressed itself upon all with whom they came in contact. In the prime of life he was a conspicuous figure, having been endowed with an unusual rugged and attractive physique. Among others of like personality and character, he helped blaze the way to the enjoyable condition of the present day. William Colston ATER, son of William and Margaret ATER, was born Feb. 18, 1839 and passed to his reward March 12, 1918, aged 79 years, and 22 days. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Parker BAKER, November 1, 1860. To this union was born 10 children, the good wife and six children having preceded him in death, those who remain to mourn their loss, 4 children: Mrs. John VOSS and Mrs. William TARBILL, of near Clarksburg, Ohio; Mrs. Wilson MCPHERSON and Earnest ATER, of Tucson, Ariz.. Four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Charity HORNBECK of near Williamsport, O., and a host of relatives and friends. He was a member of the Christian church at Clarksburg, having joined under the pastorate of Rev. John W. REYNOLDS. He had been a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for many years. He had held many local offices of trust, and always discharged the duties of the same faithfully and honorably. In his last illness he often expressed himself willing and ready to meet death. But what is death? "Tis but the prelude to unending bliss; The night that breaks on the eternal morn. The grave shall yield its dead, and man shall be Immortal as his God. Beyond the parting and the greeting, We shall be soon; Beyond the farewell and the greeting, Beyond the pulses' fever beating, We shall be soon. Love, rest and home! Oh, how sweet it will be there to meet The dear ones all at home. Funeral from the church at Clarksburg, Rev. ROSE of Staunten and Rev. SHELDON of Clarksburg, officiating. Interment at Williamsport. The pall bearers were, William TARBILL, J. H. VOSS, W.T. HOSKINS, Albert VOSS, Everett HOSKINS and S. D. ATER.
