By The Telegram's correspondent Coalton--Mrs. John Gentil, mother of Harry Gentil, first Coalton soldier to die int he World War, succumbed to a stroke of paralysis at her home Thursday night at 10 o'clock. Mrs. Gentil, whose maiden name was Catherine Freemont was the mother also of Mrs. Char. Hunter of south Wellston. She was well-known here. First stricken about 11 years ago, Mrs. Gentil had another stroke and three weeks, before her death had another stroke. She was a woman of strong constitution and was almost 70 years of age. Mrs. Gentil was born at Hamden Furnace, now Puritan east of Hamden, on Oct. 29, 1856, a daughter of Nicholas and Caroline Fremont. Her father worked for the old charcoal furnaces of Lawrence and Jackson counties. She and her husband came to Coalton in 1883 at the beginning of the village. He died Sept 29, 1932. Surviving her are the following sons, and daughters: Leonard and Clarence Gentil of Coalton, Mrs. Charles Hunter of Wellston, Charles Gentil, Mrs. Margaret Farley and Mrs. Ernest Paulson of Columbus. Two brothers are living. George Fremont of Marion and Chris Fremont of Portsmouth. Her son, Harry Gentil was killed by a shell in France as his regiment was moving up to the front line trenches. Later his body was brought back from overseas for burial in Coalton. The funeral was held at the M. E. church of which Mrs. Gentil had been a member for many years. Rev. Oscar Maerker conducted the service. Burial was in Coalton cemetery beside her late husband. She also belonged to the Pocahontas at Coalton. Scioto St. near w. Main St. Mrs. Dollie Leist according to a police report by Officer Rod List, stepped out from between some parked cars on N. Scioto St. into the path of a car. The motorist, David W. Parks, 21, of N. Pickaway St. was no held. Officer List reported that Mrs. Leist suffered a scalp laceration, possible concussion, contusion of the left knee and possible fracture of the pelvis. The mishap occurred almost in front of the officers of Dr. J. M. Hedges. The Physician was summoned immediately following the accident and administered to Mrs. Leist before she was removed to the hospital. Parks told police he did not see Mrs. Leist until she ran into the street. Parks car skidded 27 feet after the impact, according to the police report. Mrs. Leist said she started across the street after looking to see if any cars were coming. She said she did not see any. ABBOTT Mrs. Mary Ellen Abbott wife of William Abbott died Tuesday evening September 14, at her home in Ashville of dropsy, aged 52 years. She had been ill for four years. Mrs. Abbott's maiden names was Mary Ellen Hoover and she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Hoover. She was born in this country, June 13, 1862 and married Mr. Hoover 1878. (**that would appear to be a typo, in that she didn't marry Hoover). She is survived by her husband, two sons, George and Jess Abbott, and daughters, Mrs. W. A. Duvall. (though it says daughters, only name is listed) The funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock from the Methodist Episcopal church in Ashville. Rev. IMLER DIED FROM SHOCK (is the name Imler or Immel **see below) Mrs. Anna Imler, wife of William Imler, died Sunday morning at 9 o'clock at her home on East Union street from a shock due to an accident that befell her Saturday morning when she fell at her home breaking her left leg near the near. Mrs. Imler had been an invalid for years suffering from goiter. She was born in Jackson township February 12, 1871, and was a daughter of Robert and Esther Westbury. She married William Immel July 4, 1889, and is survived by her husband and three children: Daisy, wife of William Hickey, John and Miss Gladys Immel at home. Of her immediate family four sisters: Mrs. Samuel Raub, of this city; Mrs. Dora Teets, of New Holland; Mrs. Rosa Petty, of Jackson township and Mrs. Ollie Westbury and a brother, John Westbury of Williamsport are living. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Dunkard church Rev. Mr. Conover officiated. Interment was in Forest cemetery. - --------------------------- FUNERAL OF MRS. MARY BURNS The funeral of Mrs. Mary Burns was held Thursday morning from St. Joseph's church a requiem high mass being celebrated at 9 o'clock by Rev. Father Hannan, who also read the committal service at the graveside. Interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery. The pallbearers were T. D. Tracy, James Cullen, D. J. Ryan, C. E. Reilly, D. J.
