CATON Desso D. Caton, 71, route 1, McComb, died in Lima Memorial Hospital on Sunday morning following an illness of several months. Born in Putnam County on August 16, 1898, he was the son of Philip and Margaret Campbell Caton. He was married to Florence Clevenger on March 10, 1916. Surviving with his widow are a son, Beverly D. Caton, Sr., Findlay; a daughter, Mrs. Ted (Bernadine) Spoors, McComb; twelve grandchildren, two of whom were reared in the Caton home, Mrs. Gary (Cynthia) Berger, Leipsic, and Mrs. Larry (Lucretia)Miller, route 1, McComb; nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Mildred Caton, Ellenton, Fla. Mr. Caton was a retired farmer. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Wednesday in Hartley Funeral Home, McComb with the Rev. James H. Nye officiating. Burial was in Ottawa River Cemetery, Rimer. NOTE: Mr. Caton was the grandson of Richard and Julia (Kavanaugh) Caton. Related to the NOON and WELCH families of Putnam and Madison/Union Counties of Ohio.
