Cornetet, 92 of Buford died Monday at Brown County Hospital, Georgetown. A retired farmer, he was born in the Buford area Jan 5, 1883, the son of John L. Cornetet and Lucinda Kier Cornetet. He is survived by two sons, Herman and Roy, both of the Buford community; one daughter, Mrs. Orland (Mae Fern) Miller, Buford, and four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services will be at 1 pm Thursday at the Buford Church of Christ with the Rev. Hugh Hurley officiating and burial in the Buford Cemetery. AMANDA OWENS Mrs. Amanda Owens, 93, of Hillsboro, died May 20 at Cleveland where she had been staying the past three months with a granddaughter, Mrs. Virginia Scott, who survives. She was the matron of the colored children's home here in Hillsboro from 1917-1947. Funeral services, under the direction of the D.M. Evans Funeral Home, were held at 2 PM Monday at the New Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Don Harris officiated. Burial was in the Hillsboro Cemetery. ---------------- ELWOOD STEPHENS Elwood Stephens, 83, died at Bethany, Mo, Sunday where he has resided for the past several years. He was formerly from Hillsboro. He was born in Highland County, the son of Cassius and Anna Brown Stephens. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Madge Morrow of Jackson, Mrs. Bess Ulen of Kenton, and Mrs. Mary Turner of Hillsboro. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 PM at the Evans Funeral Home, with burial following in Hillsboro Cemetery. - -------------------------- MRS. HAROLD PENNINGTON Mrs. Pearl N. Deininger Pennington, 55, former resident of Lynchburg, died Friday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, after a lengthy illness. She lived at 9965 Jackson Road, Camp Dennison, near Cincinnati. Services were held Monday at 2 PM at the Craver Funeral Home, Milford with burial following in Graceland Cemetery, east of Milford. She was the wife of Harold Pennington, who survives, along with two children Harold Pennington, Jr., and Mrs. Mary Klosterman, of Silverton; her mother, Mrs. Lena Deininger, of Silverton;l two brothers, Louis Deininger, of Cincinnati, and John Deininger, of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Ferry of Fayettesville, and Mrs. Christol Scanlon of Lynchburg. ---------------------- MRS. SAMUEL CHANEY Mrs. Cora A. Chaney, 85 Hillsboro Rt #3 died Saturday, June 1, at Highland District Hospital. She was born in Ohio on Dec 30, 1877, the daughter of John and Lida Moore Frost. She was the widow of Samuel Chaney who died several years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Seymoura Scott, Hillsboro, Rt #3, one sister, Mrs. Annabelle Plummer, Defiances; two brothers, Cash Frost, Urbana and Roy Frost of Dayton. Services were held Tuesday at 1:30 pm at the Miller Funeral Home, with Dr. Paul Jones officiating and burial following in Locust Grove Cemetery. ------------------- JEFFREY A FORDYCE Jeffrey A. Fordyce three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn R. Fordyce of Greenfield, died Tuesday, May 28, at 4: 35 pm at Children's Hospital, Columbus after an illness of 18 months. His mother is the former Mary Elizabeth Herman. Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Shawna Marle Fordyce at home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Fordyce Greenfield Rt 2; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Herman of Hillsboro Rt 1; great grandmothers, Mrs. Rhoda Herman of Chillicothe, and Mrs. Mazie Cockonougher, of Greenfield. Services were held Friday at 2 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home in Greenfield, with Rev. Clair Emerick officiating and burial following in South Salem Cemetery.
