Cokonougher" To: OH-FOOTSTEPS-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: Subject: CEM: Platter Cemetery Inscriptions - Ross County Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed PLATTER CEMETERY IN PAXTON TOWNSHIP The Platter Cemetery is located in Paxton Township, Ross County, Ohio, at the corner of Lover's Lane and Swartz Road. The cemetery is about four-tenths of a mile south of state route 50 and three-quarters of a mile east of Bainbridge. This list and commentary was compiled on 15 July 1979. The Platter Cemetery is divided by the road into two sections. One section is enclosed by a four foot fence. It is on the west side of the road, is well kept, and is mowed regularly. The other section is in a horse pasture field on the east side of the road. It is almost totally gone and has only a few stones left. The horses are very rapidly destroying it. Stones 1 thru 29 in the following list are on the west side of the road, and stones 30 thru 35 are on the east side of the road. The cemetery is no longer used for burials and has many broken, partial stones. The section in the pasture field obviously once occupied a very large area with a greater number of stones, but is now neglected by the township. 1. C.P. (Footstone.) 2.
