It was handed down from Pearl and Francis Geuy to her. They were Rowena's great grandparents. Christian Francis Geuy born: June 14, 1834 Mercy S. Van Horn (birth name Martha) born: December 2, 1831 Children: Sarah Margaret Geuy born: July 16, 1857 John Steward Geuy born: January 11, 1859 Henry Geuy born: December13, 1860 Mary Elizabeth Geuy born: January 26, 1862 George Washington Geuy born: June 7, 1864 Isaac Marquise Geuy born: June 25, 1866 Katharine Geuy born: April 14, 1868 Francis Marion L. Geuy born: January 25, 1870 Harvey Edward Geuy born: February 11, 1876 Jesse Jackson Geuy born: March 5, 1877 Additional Comments: I have researched this family and have the following information. Christian Geuss was born Christian Geis in Heilgersdorf, Bavaria Germany according to Georg Geis family from Toledo Ohio. Georg was Christians brother. He came to the US and lived with an Uncle in PA. He was not happy with the arrangements and came to Ohio. Christian served in the Civil War in the 42th Ohio infantry. He went awol one day when his first child was born. He married Mercy (Martha) Van Horn from Bucks Co. PA on Sept. 28, 1856. Mercy was the daughter of Samuel Van Horn and Mercy Lovett of Bucks Co. PA. The name Geis was German and in the states was changed to Geuss. Later in 1900 the family changed the name to Geuy. One child, Jesse Jackson Geuy changed it to Guoy. Christian married twice. His first wife Martha or Mercy died while giving birth to the last child. He then left the eldest daughter to raise the remaining children and went to Toledo and lived with his brother. He met and married two years later to Marian Momentaheir. Here are the spouses and more info on the family. Christian Geuss is buried in Pasco, Shelby Co. Ohio. He died on April 22, 1829 Children of Mercy and Christan and their spouses if known are: Sarah Margaret Geuy m. Martin Maxon She died 1922 John Steward Geuy m. Berley Ethyl Bantley (they changed their name to Guoy) Another Geuy I found was Laura Geuy whom married, Samuel Joseph Maurice. The Bible records had some parts removed or cut out for some reason by Pearl and Francis. It is on a very fine onion skin type paper and is very fragile. The Geuy family built elaborate Barns. We know that Christian's mothers name was Eva Margaret? His siblings were: Georg or George and Maria.Georg's wife was Dortha. I believe Maria m.
