MATILDA MATTHEWS age 71, Hillsboro will be buried today in the Fairfax Cemetery. She died Wenesday of lobar pneumonia. DONALD HOYT, killed in Alaska Dec 27 by a snowslide was buried in Chillicothe Tuesday. He was chief engineer of the Guggenheim interest for seven years. He was single. The funeral was at the home of his brothers. Dr. Roy Hoyt, Dr. and Mrs. Maurice Hoyt, Mrs. R. L. Boulware and Gatch Brown attended the funeral. - ---------------------------- Thursday Oct 19-1911 Hillsboro paper MRS. F. E. BROWN, a former resident of Hillsboro, died at her home in Provo, Utah, Friday. She was formerly Miss Blanche Jones and is a sister of Mrs. Harry Barrett and Mrs. John Turley of Rainsboro and Spencer Jones of Coshocton. She is survived by her husband and a son, who was born on the Monday before her death. Mrs. Brown was about 35 years of age. -------------------------- The following people from a distance attended the funeral of JOEL CALVERT Monday of last week: Frank Calvert of Cincinnati, C. Guthrie and James Guthrie of Leesburg, Mrs. Kate Swisshelm, Moses Calvert, W. E. Calvert, NE Calvert and son, of Hillsboro, Mills Calvert of Illinois, and Mrs. and Mrs. Holliday of Sugartree Ridge. ------------------------ The engagement and approaching marriage of HARRY SHANK, of Blanchester, and MISS GOLDIE SMITH of this place have been announced. The wedding will occur, November 25. ------------------- BIRTA WEST, youngest child of Simpson West, is very seriously ill with typhoid fever. ---------------------- MISS HAZEL CARLISLE, the charming and attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Carlisle, and Ferris L. Hughes, of Peebles will be united in marriage at the beautiful country home of the bride's parents today. Only the immediate families and a few friends of the contracting parties will be at the wedding. Following the ceremony they will leave for a bridal trip. They will be at hoe to their friends in Peebles after November 1. Mr. Hughes is one of the progressive and leading young farmers of Adams county.
