MARY E. DAVIS, 92, died Thursday, May 30, at 1:30 pm at Fayette Memorial Hospital, Washington CH. She was a resident of Sabina Rt #1. She was born in Pike County on Nov 1, 1870, the daughter of Robert and Anna Brown Gregg. SHADE, formerly of this place, but who has been connected with the Jefferson Bee at Jefferson, Ia, has purchased The Lake City News, of Lake City, IA. Mrs. Shad was formerly editor of this paper and has had a wide experience in newspaper work. He is a clearn, forceful, and ready writer and with his thorough knowledge of newspaper work should make a success in his new venture. On the peak day 4,800 pupils and 56 teachers were absent in the public schools. Policeman Frank Nolan helped deliver a baby boy born to Mrs.Molly Burleigh, at her home, 333 Wheeler st. Nolan had helped deliver three other babies. Metropolitan Park Board announced it had started to buy property at Darrow rd. and Newton st. for a new park. This grew into the present huge Goodyear Metropolitan Park.
