PRESUMED IT WAS EITHER COLUMBUS, OHIO PAPER OR ALBANY, GEORGIA PAPER. WITH HIS AGE BEING LISTED AS 61, WE CAN ASSUME THE PAPER WAS SOMETIME IN 1972. EX-GRID COACH, GOLF PRO R. F. SPERRY DIES AT 61 R. F. "Bob" Sperry, 61 former Albany High School footfall coach and athletic director and former golf professional at the American Legion course here until a year ago, died Monday afternoon in Palmyra Park Hospital. Born Eb 9-1911, in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Sperry was graduated from Mercer University in 1933, receiving his B.A. degree. He also received his mater's degree from Mercer. While at Mercer he was a four year letterman in football and baseball. He came to Albany in 1947 as a teacher and football coach at Albany High School. In 1950, he was recalled into the Air Force and served during the Korean conflict. Returning to Albany in 1952, he served as athletic director and history teacher at Albany High School. He became the golf professional at the American Legion Club in 1958. He retired last year. Mr. Sperry was a member of a the First Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II, and the Korean war. He retired in 1966 from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel, also a member of the Professional Golf Association of Georgia, the National Professional Golf Association, Sons of the American Revolution, Walter H. Burt Post 30, American Legion, the Albany Elks Lodge and served as executive secretary of the Albany Football Officials Association. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Rose Lawson of Malcomb, now of Albany; two sons, Robert F. Sperry, Jr. of Miami, Florida and George H. Sperry of Wilmington, N. C.; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Peterson of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Dorothy Holladay of Columbus, Ohio and four grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Kimbrell-Stern by the Rev. Perry F. Webb, Jr. pastor of the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hollis Stanford, JP James, Ray Satterfield, Joe Stephens, Richard V. Richards, all of Albany, CA Collins, Sr. of Camilla, Maj James Hughes of Columbus and Bob Smith of Macon; honorary, Ambrose Green, J. Glenn Sowell, Jack O'Brien, Paul B. Robertson, Harold McNabb, T. R. Finley, J. J. Cordell Leroy Lawson, W. B. Lawson, James H. Lawson, Dr. Thomas Johnson, Marshall Pitts, William Fleming, RE Riley, Ralph Satterfield, Jeff Rose, Bud Shemwell, Robert Crawford, Amos Samford, William Alford, William Smith, Howard Couch, A. H.
