Jones. The funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. B. F. Paist. He was a member of the Elk Lodge and short services were conducted by its officers at the grave. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Maria C. Jones, Mrs. Lane Williams, and Miss Margaret Chaney, all of this city, and one brother, Harry of Vincennes, Indiana. The following shorut sketch of his life was written by an intimate friend: Fred, the son of the late Henry and Ella Morrow Chaney was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on Feb 4, 1879, and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Maria Jones, on Jan 15-1922. He received his education in the Hillsboro Public Schools. After finishing school he learned the printing trade, being employed at the NEWS-HERALD. A few years later he went to Vincennes, Ind. where he was employed as assistant manager of the Union Depot Hotel which position he held until his health failed a couple of years ago. He returned to Hillsboro, and has since made his home with his sisters, Mrs. Maria C. Jones and Miss Margaret Chaney , who with another sister, Mrs. Lane Williams, tenderly cared for him during his long illness. Fred Chaney was most likeable fellow. He was a loyal friend, a pleasant companion, thoughtful, kind and considerate. He was generous to a fault and strictly honorable in all his dealings. He had a fine sense of humor, and a keen wit, but there was never any sting or meanness in any of the clever things he said. He had a wonderful disposition, always cheerful and bright. Even during his long illness, although he suffered intensely at times and steadily lost in strength and knew he was waging a helpless fight against an incurable disease, he never complained. That he could be so cheerful at all times was remarkable to his freinds. His consideration of his sisters, his thoughtfulness to them and his anxiety not to cause them trouble during these long months were unmistakable proofs of the fineness of his charater ***sorry folks my page ends here. Died at Highland, Ohio June 24th, 1921 aged 1 year 9 months and 11 days. She leaves to mourn her father, mother, five sisters, and one brother. She was only sick from Monday until Friday morning and bore her pain and sufferings patiently and all that tender hearts and loving hands could do, could not keep her with us. We are made to wonder why our hearts must be saddened by the taking away of the life which gladdened the home. Yet God in his goodness doeth all things well. Little Kathryn who passed on be fore will be waiting for her. -------------------------- ANDREW MILNE, aged 54 was kicked I the abdomen by a mule colt, Wednesday morning of last week, while in the barn yard at his home near Marshall, and received such serious injured that he died Thursday morning.
