State Highway Patrolmen identified the man killed as Ray Murphy, 42, of 861 Tallmadge rd., in the Falls. he was pinned in the wreckage of his truck which caught fire, they said. Patrolmen say that Murphy's truck sideswiped two other trucks, ran off the road, hit a tree and burned. The two other drivers were Glen Collins, 38, of Burt's Run, Mich., and John A. Miller, 27, of Lincoln Park, Mich. They were taken to an Oberlin hospital. Murphy was taken to the Curtis Turman Funeral Home in Wellington. First step in augmenting the present police force with 15 additional patrolmen was taken with the appointment of two new officers today. Safety Director Robert A. Myers announced the appointments and declared names of the ramaining 13 officers to be appointed will be determined within several days. The two new officers are Frank J. Nolan, 31, of 1236 Tonawanda av. formerly employed by the W.E. Wright Co. as a truck driver, and Ruble Compton, 26, of 2612 Carey av., formerly an electrician with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. ONE IS ASSIGNED Nolan already has been assigned to duty. Compton is to go on duty Monday. The selections of new officers are being made from a list of 35 names certified to the safety director by the civil service board. About 175 candidates took the examinations for the vacancies.
