One Wednesday evening she was taken in a fit of apoplexy and died in a short time. Her corpse was brought up on the Alleghany, on Friday. Verily, “in the midst of life, we are in Death.” The bride of Monday was on Thursday a lifeless corpse. The bridal tour ended in a funeral procession. INFORMATION WANTED of Richard Price, who left Pomeroy on the last day of July, for Ironton or Oak Hill, in Jackson county, and has not been heard of since. Said Price is 60 years of age, about five feet high, heavily built, light completed, healthy looking man; an Englishman by birth. Any one knowing anything of his whereabouts will confer a favor upon his bereaved family by communicating it to Mrs. Frances Price, care of Edmund Nees, Pomeroy, Ohio. Ironton, Jackson and Gallipolis papers please copy. ROBBERY On last Saturday evening a young man named Jones, formerly of this place, called at the residence of Mr. Benjamin Stevens, who resides on the road leading from Letart Falls to Point Pleasant, representing that night had overtaken him and wishing to stay until morning. Consent was given and the evening passed off in conversation, when they retired to rest. Sometime during the after part of the night Jones arose and entering the room occupied by the family stole therefrom a trunk containing $700 in gold. In the morning the trunk was found in the meadow broken open and rifled on its contents. Mr. S. was about moving to the West, and had sold off all his property together with his household goods, and the money was the proceeds of the sale. He is now left in a situation that deserves the sympathy of the public. – West Columbia Telescope ANOTHER The dwelling house of Eli Lewis was entered on Sabbath evening last, by means of false keys. The family were all at church, except Mrs. Lewis, who hearing the noise, was afraid to speak; but after the man had gone up stairs she called for the neighbors, when a lady hastened to her and met the scoundrel in the entry. Mr. Cooper coming up at this moment the thief fled out of the back way, and made his escape. How long must we suffer with this gang of cut-throat desperadoes that infest our town and vicinity. Again, we caution our citizens to beware – Telescope SAD CATASTROPHE - - Mr. Isaac Casto. A worthy and respected citizen of this county, was found dead last Tuesday morning beneath a bridge just outside of Ripley with his scull very much fractured. He was intoxicated when he left for home the night previous, and it is supposed he laid down on the bridge and fell asleep. From the situation in which he was found he evidently pitched headlong from the bridge upon the rocks below, a distance of about ten feet. The verdict of the jury of inquest was in accordance with these facts. Mr. C. leaves a wife and several children. – Ravenswood Chronicle MASONIC – Pomeroy Lodge, No. 164 Free Masons, held the annual election of Monday evening.
