He was a minute man in the fall of 1774 while residing in West Springfield and on April 20, 1775 he marched to Roxberry and there enlisted in Captain Enoch Chapin's company, Colonel Timothy Danielson's Massachusetts regiment. He enlisted again in 1776 in Captain Samuel Flowers company, Colonel Woodbridge's Massachusetts regiment. He moved in 1778 to Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut, and in 1800 he moved with his family to the "Northwestern Territory." He applied for pension August 27, 1832 while he was a resident of Deerfield, Portage County, Ohio.
