Item First: I give and devise to my beloved wife in lieu of her dower the farm on which we now reside situated in Berne Township, Fairfield County and State of Ohio Containing one hundred acres during her natural life and all the stock household goods and chattels which may be thereon at the time of my decease during her natural life as aforesaid (She however selling so much thereof as may be sufficient to pay my just debts). At the death of my said wife the real estate aforesaid and the house and lot in Basil, Fairfield County, Ohio I give and devise to my three sons Christian, Frederick, and Jacob and their heirs. Item Second: I give and devise to my daughter Mary Knecht the sum of one hundred and forty five dollars, her share in full and to be paid to her by my sons after the death of my beloved wife. It is my wish that my son Christian should have one hundred dollars more that each of the other two sons out of the real estate above named. I do hereby nominate and appoint my three sons Christian, Frederick, and Jacob with George Hom and if George Hom should die before my beloved wife then John Hom Executors of this my last will and testament: hereby authorizing and empowering them to compromise adjust release and discharge in such manner as they may deem proper the debts and claims due me. I do also authorize and empower them, if it shall become necessary in order to pay my debts, to sell by private sale or in such manner upon such terms of credit or otherwise as they may think proper, all or any part of my real estate and deeds to purchasers to execute acknowledge and deliver in fee simple. In testimony hereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd day of September in the year 1863.
