Andrew Keenan was born in the state of Pennsylvania, March 7th, 1800. His father and family removed to Ohio in the year 1802 and located in Fairfield county Ohio. His father died the winter of 1802 and 3, leaving a widow with nine children Andrew, the deceased being the youngest. He has been a resident of Somerset about sixty years. He was married to Hester Miller, September 28th, 1826, and to them were born ten children, 5 daughters and five sons, of them the youngest and oldest have died; the oldest about eighteen months since; the youngest in early infancy. The now widowed wife of more than 54 years of companionship, with 4 daughters and 4 sons survive their father with a number of grandchildren to mourn his departure. He attached himself to the M.E. Church in Somerset, about forty years ago and has lived a constant and exemplary life from that time to his death which occurred at about 10 o'clock P.M., February 1st, 1881. Like the faithful servant Paul of old, he faught the good fight and kept the faith. For many years he was a faithful door keeper in the house of the Lord. His funeral service was largely attended, and in respect to his memory and faithful service the church was draped in mourning. Funeral discouse preached by Rev. JM Adams, from 39th psalm, 4th verse, assisted by the Rev. Cartlidge and Whitmore. He has gone in peace, Life's battle fought and won; He heard from the throne the Master's voice, Well done, well done.
