Baker Sr. gb462@msn.com March 1, 2009, 2:26 pm Military Discharge Of Isaac N. Dyer Know ye that Isaac N. Dyer, private of Captain Wesley R. Adams, Company K, 89th Ohio Infantry Volunteers, who was enrolled on the 20th day of August 1862 to serve three years or during the war is hereby discharged from the service of the United States, this 7th day of June 1865 at Camp near Washington DC. This by means of telegram order, War Dept., May 18, 1865, providing for the discharge of men whose service expires prior to 1st Oct 1865 ( No objection to his being re-inlisted is known to exist). Said Isaac N. Dyer was born in Ross Co.in the State of Ohio, is 18 years of age, five ft. 9 inches high, light complexion, grey eyes, light hair and by occupation when enrolled a farmer. Given at Camp near Washington DC this 7th day of June 1865. Jacob Kluer, Capt., Co. K, 89th OVI Additional Comments: Isaac did begin receiving a monthly pension of $4.00 per month due to his leg being hypertrophied by the effects of Typhoid Fever, his health further compromised by Severe Dysentery. He battled both of these problems for the rest of his life which hampered him from supporting his family properly as a farmer. He also battled the Veterans Administration annually to hang on to the pension that he so rightly deserved. At 11:00 PM on thwe night of July 11, 1925, God so graciously took the "Ole Soldier" to his final reward.
