COLLINS DIED TODAY - HAD BEEN RESIDENT OF COUNTY FOR OVER 40 YEARS - Succumbed to Long Illness this Afternoon--Funeral Services Wednesday-- Interment at Baldwin (KS) Andrew J. Collins, age 82, a resident of Franklin Count (KS) for over 40 years, died at his home 10 miles northwest of Ottawa this afternoon at 12:20 o'clock. Death was due to complications of old age, and the decedent had been failing for the last year. Funeral services will be held from the late home Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Interment will be at Baldwin (Douglas County, KS)Cemetery. Mr. Collins was born at Pickaway County, Ohio, November 30, 1828. He came to Ottawa (Franklin County, KS)in 1868 and one year later moved to his farm northwest of Ottawa. He is survived by four children, Andrew J. Collins, Jr., of this county; John Collins, of Kansas City, former chief of police of Ottawa; Mrs. Charles Pitzer, of Oklahoma City, and Miss Mayme Collins, with whom he made his home. Mrs. Pitzer will not be able to attend the rites because of illness in the family.
