Name: Adam Jordan Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/oh/pike/photos/tombstones/yankeehill/jordan57gph.jpg Image file size: 60.0 Kb Picture of Adam Jordan's grave with Civil War stone. Adam was born 1837 in Guernsey Co., Ohio and died June 28, 1862 on his way back home in Rome/Stout, Ohio. He was with the Ohio 53rd Company A. at the Battle at Shiloh, Tennessee when he contacted Typhoid Fever. He was taken to a hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio at some point. He left there trying to get home to Pike Co., Ohio. He came up the river and was either left off or died on the way. Either way he was buried at Yankee Hill Cemetery. We often wondered why his wife Delilah Cooper buried him there when most of the other family is buried at Smith Hill Cemetery in Pike Co., when behind Adam's stone and off to the right are Delilah's parents and behind them up against the fence is her older sister Charlotte Cooper Albin. Adam had only 3 children with Delilah. One son Clark died at age 4 and is supposed to buried near Adam but with no stone. Another son, Adam Jr., died at age 20/21. Do not know where he is buried. No stone. Some say he is buried at Old Smith Hill Cemetery. There is no stone there either. Only one son lived to adulthood. That is John Wesley Jordan. Adam is the son of Jacob Jordan and Susanne McBride of Guernsey Co., Ohio. His ancestors helped settle Guernsey, Noble and Morgan Counties of Ohio.
