Page 19 in Volume 1 of Pike County, Ohio court records of marriage show James Clark and Sarah Penisten were married 25 March, 1830 by Joseph Penisten. Additional Comments: Penisten was also often spelled "Pennisten" and "Penniston". Sarah M. "Salley" Pennisten was born 14 Feb. 1813 and died 1 February 1882. Her parents were George Pennisten (b. abt. 1758 in New Jersey) and Rebecca Wheaton (b. abt.1775 in New Jersey). James Lawson Clark was born 20 August 1800 in Ireland and died 6 January 1864. His parents were William Clark (b. abt. 1762) in Ireland and Mary (b. abt. 1764) in Ireland. The children of James and Sarah Clark were Robert (b. 1832), Rebecca (b. 1834), Mary (b. 1836), Hannah (b. 1838), Sarah A. (b. 1840), James L.(b. 1842), Priscilla, Martha J. (b. 1846), Vienna (b. 1849), George L. (b. 1851), John R. (b. 1854), Edward (b. 1862), and Louisa (b. 1863).
