Edinburgh, was born June 15, 1820, on the farm where he and his family now reside in Edinburg Township, this county, son of Robert and Margaret Calvin, the former born February 9, 1780, in Virginia, latter June 9, 1800 in Pennsylvania. They were married in this county and in 1814 settled upon the farm where they lived and died, the father May 31, 1870, the mother January 24, 1872. They were the parents of eleven children. Our subject was married April 25, 1848, to Margaret Fisher, born in this county April 10, 1822, daughter of George and Esther Fisher, natives of Pennsylvania, who came to this county with their parents, remaining until their death in 1869 and 1866, respectively. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin are the parents of ten children: Joshua, Uranie, George, Maryett, Rhodie, Robert, Esther, Sarah, Harriet and Ellen. He is a carpenter by trade, and has also been engaged in farming. He owns 413 acres of land on which he and his family now reside, all of which, with the balance of his estate (except $1,000 inherited), he has acquired by his own exertions.
