He's James Shea, now living with his son, Earl, just beyond Westwood Park on U.S.Route 30. Shea sold the land about 18 months ago when he found the cost- price squeeze too great a burden for a farmer living in an area fast turning from farmland to city. "Didn't think of a housiing project at first," said Shea. but the Kissell Company's Jack Doerrer, who talked the matter over with him, had long had such a project in mind. That, said Doererr, was the origin of Westwood. Shea's forefathers settled on the land during the administration pf President James Monroe almost 150 years ago. One of the oldest family farms in Richland County, it was kept in continuous cultivation until Shea retired. Additional Comments: James Shea, former owner of the land of which Westwood Park allotment now stands, held the original title-deed to the property signed by President James Montroe (1817-1825). Note: Unfortunately, the deed was stolen from the family home in later years.
