MARY COKONOUGHER MARY GABRIEL MALONE COKONOUGHER, 83, of Magnolia, Delaware died May 30, 2004, at home. Born May 26, 1921, in Dover, Mass., she was the daughter of the late JOHN JAY MALONE and AGNES L. LEYDEN MALONE. She was one of 13 children. Mary graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Roxbury, Mass., and from New Hampshire College with a degree in teaching. She taught kindergarten in South Natrick, Mass. She was given an aptitude test by the state of Massachusetts. She was then placed at Gillette's Razor Company in Boston, where she was a department head of 126 people. While there she secretly taught precision instrument reading to men at Bendix Aircraft at night during World War II. Mary was a stay-at-home mom who helped anyone in need. She took cooking classes and became an excellent cook. She was also a seamstress and could fix anything. On July 15, 1944, she married HAROLD E. COKONOUGHER in South Salem, Ohio and they lived in Dorchester, Mass., after World War II. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 2000; her son, DUANE ELLSWORTH COKONOUGHER in 1983; and several siblings. She is survived by her daughter, JAN ORENDORF and her husband JIM ORENDORF of Magnolia, Del.; two sisters, Mrs.CLAIRE WEISS of Swansea, Mass., and FLORENCE FOSTER of Dorchester, Mass.; two grandchildren, CHRISTIAN ORENDORF and THERESA ORENDORF; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, EVELYN STAATS and KENNETH STAATS of Bainbridge, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
