FREE Mrs. Erma Crossen Free, 69, Lyndon Rt. 1, died Sunday at 5 P.M. in Chillicothe Hospital. A retired teacher, she had taught at Paint Valley and Whitehall School System, Columbus. Born June 16, 1904 in Ross County, she was the daughter of Robert Steinmetz and Dollie Steiner Steinmetz. She was a member of the South Salem United Presbyterian Church, it’s Womens’ Association; the Bainbridge Order of Eastern Star, No. 183; past president of the Paint Valley Garden Club; member of the South Salem Nonparell Club; Ross County Retired Teachers’ Association, and Ohio Retired Teachers’ Association. Services by Smith Funeral Home in Bainbridge. Interment in Twin Cemetery in Bournville. Mrs. Free is survived by her husband, Paul; a son, Dale Crossen, Willard, Ohio; three stepsons, Robert Free, Greenfield, James and Karl Free, both of South Salem; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dwight Lucas, Greenfield; two brothers, Ervin Steinmetz, Greenfield, and Robert Steinmetz, Centralia, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Borror and Mrs. Marjorie Roberts, both of Columbus, and Mrs. Winifred Remmy, Springfield, and 12 step grandchildren.
