		       RUTH DUFF


	Greenfield, Ohio -  Mrs. RUTH DUFF, 90, of 430 N. Fourth St., 
Greenfield, died at 8 p.m. Monday in Fayette County Memorial Hospital.  She had 
been ill five months.
	Mrs. Duff was born in Ross County Feb. 28, 1893, to HENRY and MINNIE 
BARLEON DHUME.  She was a retired employee of the Greenfield Area Medical 
Center, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Women's Association of 
the church, the Mutual Improvement Club and the Sarosis Club of Greenfield.
	She was preceded in death by her husband, VERNON DUFF, Oct. 21, 1952, 
one son and two brothers.
	Surviving are three sons, MAYNARD and ELWOOD DUFF, both of Hillsboro, 
and THOMAS DUFF, East Greenwich, R. 1; four grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren.
	Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Murray Funeral Home, 
Greenfield, with the Rev. John Robison officiating.  Burial will be in 
Greenfield Cemetery.
	Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday.


Additional Comments:
Two of the grandparents of Mrs. Ruth Duff, the parents of her mother Minnie 
Barleon Dhume, were George and Mary Barleon, who lived on what is now called 
Wisecup Hill, in Buckskin Township of Ross County, Ohio. The following census 
records give some information about them.

Inhabitants in the 9th Ward of Cincinnati in the County of Hamilton, State of 
Ohio, enumerated on the 10 day of Oct. 1850, page 890:  " George Barleon, age - 
32, sex - M, profession - Moulder, place of birth - Germany.
                     Mary  Barleon, age - 28, sex - F , place of birth - 
Germany.
                     George Barleon, age -   7, sex - M, place of birth - La.
                     Adeline Barleon,  age -   5, sex - F,  place of birth - 
Ohio.
                     Mary Barleon,  age - 11/12, sex - F, place of birth - 
Ohio."

place of birth - Ireland, father of foreign birth - yes, mother of foreign 
birth - yes.
	Mary Barleon, age - 15, sex - F, color - W, profession - helps mother, 
place of birth - Ohio, father of foreign birth - yes, mother of foreign birth - 
yes.
	Minna Barleon, age - 10, sex - F, color - W, profession - helps mother, 
place of birth - Ohio, father of foreign birth - yes, mother of foreign birth - 
yes, attended school within the year - yes."

	Mena Barleon, color - white, sex - female, age - 20, relationship to 
head of family - dau., single, occupation - At home, place of birth - Ohio, 
father's place of birth - Baden, mother's place of birth - Baden.
